side by side

I normally build 1:48 WWII planes. However, for modern era, I build 1:72 because of the size difference and wanting to keep everything on a shelf. I am amazed at the size differences in WWII vs modern era and am even more shocked at say the difference between the tiny A4 skyhawk and an F14 or F18. It is amazing. I just finished 1:72 of these three and they sit on my shelf and the A4 is dwarfed.

Yeah, the ol’ Scooter’s a little critter, ain’t it?
I’m amazed when I see a 1/48 scale A-10 next to a B-25. That Warthog is one big aircraft!
Or even an F-14 next to a B-17. We have this image of the B-17 as a huge, 4-engined bomber, but if I’m not mistaken, the Tomcat is just as long, if not a bit longer!

And what about the Su-27 series? They are monstrously huge!

Makes a person kinda glad they did away with “box-scale” !

Put a 1/48 scale O-1 Bird dog next to a 1/48 scale F-14. It looks like the O-1 could be carried on the Tomcats pylon.
