I am curious how much of their work that they have actually outsourced to China. But I am sure that they had good business reasons for doing so. Mainly to keep costs down and remain competitive I would presume. In any case, I still love their product line.
So I will see your F-14 with a 1/48 AH-64A Apache. This is the first kit I used XtraColours on which was an interesting expereince. When I built this bird they were the only folks who had Army Helo Drab in their line up. Almost the entire line is gloss in order to elimnate the need to gloss coat after painting prior to decaling. A novel concept. But they do have a LONG drying time compared to other enamels. This is another damaged and rebuilt quake survivor.
Some amazing builds here, A couple i remember from my youth (which ended up as glue bombs or “what not to do” display pieces in my dads wall unit.
Only got one in my stash, 1:144 super connie which im really looking forward to.
I think while revell has produced some real bollocks kits. The ones i avoid the most these days are the italeri blue box kits. Really lacking in detail and fit. But thats just my gripe lol.

I’m looking forward to that Connie Mikey. I built one of those for my dad years and years ago. That was the first plane that he used to work on when he started with airlines back in the 50s.
Oh boy! This is too much fun to pass up. Sorry if I take up a whole page on the thread. Here are the Tomcats I have done for my Nats project for Omaha.
The D VII originated with Aurora, and it was considered among the best of their kits. When Aurora was finally closed down in the early 70s, Monogram bought that mold, and a load of other Aurora molds, primarily to prevent anyone else from buying them and bringing them onto the market. The Camel and the SE-5a were also part of that series. I don’t recall that there was a Dr. I in the series, though, at least not that Monogram ever brought onto the market. I’ll have to look that one up (Graham’s “Remembering Monogram Models” and “Remembering Aurora Models” are excellent resources).
Monogram’s A-7 in 1/48 is also originally an Aurora kit. That one has been called the best aircraft model that Aurora did.

Yes it is great to see all the MMC members here. How can you call yoruself the Baron if you never built on of the Aurora/Monogram Dr.1’s??? Of course that release was molded in Red and came in the ever popular markings of Von Richthoven.
Darren, that is a beautiful collection of Tomcats! Are those all 1/48? Where do you put all those big birds?

Bob, that 109 is truly one of their hidden gems. A bit of work like you did and they really sparkle! Pordoi, that B-1 is beautiful!!! Capone, that Duece may have an Encore facelift, but beneath is pure Monogram beauty. And it all shows [Y]
Well my RM completed builds are starting to run low… I have this Mirage 2000C and maybe 2 others… we need re inforcements!!!

Here’s one I did years ago. Straight OOB and I didn’t even bother to weather it. It’s by RofG in 1/72 and like any other Revell kit I’ve built- I loved it. I don’t prescribe to trashing Revell and IF something is lacking I either accept it or set about to correct it when that mood strikes me.[;)]
