Well we could also ruffle some feathers by reviving the debate about “modeling versus assembling” but I’ll just go ahead and agree with you- I like to tinker and try to better whatever kit is on my bench. Sometimes the plainer the kit or in need of some corrections, the better.[8-|] But hey, I’ve got more time and desire to hone my skills than money.[;)] To me, as long as the overall “shape” of the kit looks what I expect the subject to look like- well, I can fill in the details.
I was thinking about “fixing” it. Might have to do that.
I mostly build in 1/72 scale , however over the past ten years or so I’ve picked up the occassional Monogram/Revell 1/48 scale bird , usually when they have been on special ;
I had some luck today , I was browsing over at Hannants web sit in the UK and found some Monogram kits for sale in the second hand listings , I ordered a Cessna A-37 Dragonfly , F-100D and F-4C/D .
I’ve been wanting a 1/48 A-37 for almost twenty years , my eye’s nearly fell out of my head when I saw the kit listed [:O]; same with the F-100D [:P]
Tower Hobbies had the 1/48 Revell A-6E Intruder and I ordered her as well.

I think I’m already one of the higher officials in this Mafia given the 30+ Revell and Monogram models I’ve built! LOL! I love it!
Once I can get all the pics together in one place, I’ll post them all here.
30?[;)] Try about 500, lol… I’ve built multiple copies of just about every Monogram plane, car, and AFV they put out since 1966… Ain’t missed many, 'cept the 1/32 F3F and Gulfhawk kits, some of the civil aviation stuff (Built the Piper Tri-Pacer though), a few jets, and a few cars… Oh, and I passed on Monogram’s ships… Not my thing, although I built maybe two or three Revell ship kits…

Hmmmmm, monogram maffia huh? So does one have to build a certain amount to qualify? Maybe just hold a deep appreciation for one?? What about the Revell-Monogram stuff? Does that get me a junior membership…
ya ya… lol… I built mostly Monogram, as a kid… lol. no other choice in my area for a long time…

It’s been awhile since I’ve checked in here, but I do like R/M kits a whole lot. So much so that I’ve bashed a few here and there. Here’s an old one. The F-16 bashed w/ parts from the F/A-18 and F-8 and F-15. I call it “Snoopy’s Nightmare”.
Check the Group Build Hooch for the “Monogram Mafia” GB, Vance…
Depends… It has to have started “life” as a Monogram kit, in Morton Grove, IL to be a Monogram kit… Some Revell-Monogram kits qualify, many don’t… That’s mostly in the “Cars” and “Armor” categories though… There are only two current Revell kits in the Revell catalog that are ex-Monogram, the “M-48 Patton” and the “M4 Sherman”. Everything else “armor” is ex-Renwall or Revell Germany… If the car kit is 1/24th scale, it’s probably ex-Monogram, if it’s 1/25th, it’s a Revell…
ProModeler kits also are OK, but they have to be ex-Monogram kits… ProModeler Kits like the 1/32 Bf 109G aren’t… (That one is actually an ex-Hasegawa, I believe)
That goes without saying…
You either get “made” or you don’t…

Howdy All, I’ve been waiting to get to a high speed connection to view all the Fine work here before posting myself. I have been building one of every B-17 that my wife’s grandfather flew in WWII. The first Ain’t Miss Behavin’ I am starting soon and will be another clear side rendering as is AMB 3. He started his flight training in “Good Pickin’” at Delhart Tx. which you will see first. His first in country 17 was AMB, not done yet, the second AMBII (of course) Crashed at the end of their 16th mission, just short of the runway, you will see both the morning and evening of June 19,1944 of this 17, they are two different model builds but will be shown together. The third AMB (III) was a war weary craft that had been scavenged prior to them pulling her out and rebuilding her so they could continue to fly, she was pretty beat up and the radioman (Still Livin’, Al Winant) said going from AMB II to AMB III was like going from a Cady to a worn out Pinto, she was rough. She carried them on 8 missions and then was handed to another crew which were shot down on their 4th mission with only one survivor. In all the crew of the AMBs flew 31 missions with 5 over Berlin and they flew on D-Day in support, with no loss of life, and minor injuries in the crash. Some of you my have seen them during their build here but since they are Rev/Mon kits here they are. I also have on my bench three R/M kits of a He-111-22, Ju 87 R2, and a Ju-88, show them soon I hope!

Some nice looking B-17s there Bomber Boy! [Y] Are all three 1/48? Is Nice Pickings modified from the Revell early F or the Monogram G?
Thanks stlkpusher! She was done from a G model just cut off the chin, as she had the nose wart that the early F model didn’t have. they are all 1/48 scale. The bases on AMB2 (both) measure 29"x24" good thing I have a large basement for those cases.
