Ive just finished a very large and tedious diorama thats approx 34 X 22. Its a lot like building a boat in the basement forgetting how I’m going to get it out, I really never gave much thought about shooting it. All I have is a Sony Cyber Shot but for the most part a lot of light and room. For all the years I’ve done this photography has always taken a back seat to building.
If you can, buy some artifical light sources. Ebay sells some pretty cheap Chinese stuff that should work for you. Artifical light does not have to be harsh. Gels and reflectors of a gold color will add plenty of warmth.

These are flash/modeling lights. Low wattage modeling light 75 watts. These are 70.00 each with free shipping. You can probaly find used heads such as these for half the price. It’s one option, there are plenty more.
