I am beginning a set of ships significant to Pacific Ocean discovery. I have found kits for Anson’s CENTURION. La Perouse’s LA BOUSSOLE is not out as a model, but was built on the lines of a Dutch Flyjte (sp?). I should be able to find something appropriate. I am going to include a model of Louis and Clark’s barge which, while it never made it to the Pacific, was essential in getting the explorers to the coast. And I will hand build a wooden model of a Polynesian voyaging canoe along the lines of HOKU LE’A. I truly want to get a model of Cook’s DISCOVERY, but no one seems to have one. Am I missing something? I am also considering including a model of Bligh’s launch from the BOUNTY. While it was not exactly a voyage of discovery, he was a Midshipman under Cook during Cook’s discovery of Hawai’i, and Bligh’s 4,100 mile transit from the central Pacific to the Dutch colony in Indonesia is a masterpiece of open ocean navigation.
Man after my own interests! I believe that Model Shipways (Model Expo) has a kit of the Bounty’s long boat.
Don’t forget the Golden Hind.

I have the Discovery in my stash. It is a plastic kit, but a pretty good one. It is either Revell or Airfix- I will check when I get home.
There is a decent Airfix kit but I don’t believe it has been produced since the late 80’s or early 90’s so may be very hard to come by now. It is not the right “Discovery” anyway as it was the 1901 Antarctic expedition one.
Another good one for this collection would be the Airfix Endeavor. It at least has been produced recently and is available.
Beat me to it!
I built the old Revell kit when I was a kid in the 70s.
You might want to consider a Chinese sea-going junk, too, to represent the rumored explorations in the Americas.
Don’t forget Thor Heyerdahl’s ‘Kon-Tiki’.
