One of my first model was a aircraft carrier (name and type unknow, never was completed 9 years ago), paint job looks horrible but I have 3 other battle ship, all from WW2, one is called Guiseneaux (sorry about the name, its a german boat). I also have a noth atlantique finshing troler, and a U-99 which is my latest model. The problem is that I don’t know any trick of how to build ship or small scale model (my ship are 1/700 1/125 and 1/72). I’ll send some photos of them soon but any help now is useful.
OK, nobodies answery,[#dots], stupid computer, think it’s so smart but can’t downl;oad picture to photobucket, just when I got the hag of it, sorry for ANY delay.
I’m not sure I understand your question. Do you want some tips on how to build ships in the 1/700 (small) and 1/350 (not quite as small) scales, or suggestions on how to revamp models you’ve already built?
If you ask more specific questions, someone in here is bound to answer you. [:)]
Yes that is what I’m asking but you should answer me after I got to post my photo of my battleships so you know how to help me out, sadly I think its not my cameras problem wiht the images now, its my computer, it’s not downloading photos to photobucket any more, sorry for the misunderstanding.
if you are trying to download alot of pics to photobucket it takes a long time .you might just not be giving it enogh time to download.it usually takes about 2-3 minutes per pic.atleast it does for me.i hope this has been of some help.[:D]
Your photographs are too blurry to be able to critique any of your construction skills (i.e. mold line removal, seams, and glue application). You need to back off to get a better focus and field of view.
What I can tell from the photos is that you brush paint and that you scrub your paints back and forth. Brush painting is a skill which can be learned and to do so you need to practice. You need to thin the paint correctly to a consistency of cream. You want to load the brush – just the tip – not all the way to the metal ferrule. You want to brush in one direction, not scrub back and forth. You want to leave a wet edge and blend your next stroke into it. With skill and patience you can brush paint straight lines – such as waterlines. Until you get there you can mask. Paint away from the edge - dont push paint into it or the paint will flow under.
Finally decals – the number on the PT Boat is silvered badly. This is caused by trapped air under the decal film, most often by the rough texture of flat paint. Decals work best (least silvering) when applied over a smooth - glossy finish. Make sure you use enough water to melt the glue and wash the extra glue away. When its drying absorb the extra glue and water with the edge of a paper towel.
All of these critiques can be resolved with practice and experience
I can’t blame too much myself, they were was made almost 10 years ago, before I had a airbrush or much experience, and ship aren’t much my think.
I don’t know the scale of most of them, but gneisenau is Revell, 1:144, and the PT boat is Revell 1/72, the decals are even lucky to stink on the model surface, hopefull the next ship will be better.
Sorry about the photos, I didn’t use the cameras fonction that makes pictures look better.
