Are the support rollers (return on top) rubber or metal? Are they black or tank colored? Most current display ones seem to be indiscriminately sprayed hull color.
They are metal, painted the same color as the rest of the tank, although after a little usage the paint will be worn off the edges that contact the track.
Thanks! Timing perfect, it’s 80 deg. today and the paint shop is OPEN!

Good golly! Thank you!
For my VVS AFVs, I paint the areas where the return roller and idler wheel contact the track a dusty metal color due to their constant rubbing against the tracks.
Got it! Painted it silver, see my WIP.
Will weather it next. You are all a really good source.
Holly Frijoles stik! Thanks for that link it’s awesome Sir!!
That site is great. All the subtle production differences in Shermans listed there.
Suddenly Shermans! I have three now, if you count the M40 GMC.
I’m going to start the M 51 this weekend.
I still need to get my upgunned Jumbo build going one of these days. I have signed it up for two GBs over the past few years and not done a dang thing on it. Third time is a charm I suppose.
Done had MY sherman fix !http://www.retiredtractors.com/gif/FlyingSmiley.gif
Looking forward to seeing yours!
Gotta love the Shermans! I’m heavily engaged (about 2/3 complete) in building the Academy M4A3E8. Very much liking the kit so far, and have Academy’s M51 waiting in the wings. I’m gonna do the much simpler Tamiya T-34/85 next, though, as the HVSS Shermans are still a little complicated for my low skill level. Plus, the Korean War Easy 8 needs an NKPA counterpart.
You mean NKPA target
I have several in the stash. Just got a Dragon Firefly 1C on sale for $23 from Blue Ridge Hobbies. I’m waiting for a Sherman GB to come up to make it even a more interesting build.
@stikpusher - “Target” does sound more appropriate, doesn’t it? LOL
I very much like the T-34/85 and it earned a stellar reputation in WWII, but Korea proved that the ultimate American Sherman (M4A3E8) was just as good if not better.
