I am building a Dragon Sherman Firefly Hybrid. I am cleaning up the suspension pieces at the moment but not sure on the return rollers. They have 2 small defined holes and 2 larger shallow circles.I am not sure if the later are ejector marks or detail.I have looked at photo
s of shermans but can not get a clear picture of the roller.
This is the clearest picture I have, It’s from a Priest at the Patton Museum.

If I remember correctly, I thik those are ejector pin marks. Some of those early kits from Dragon have horrible ejector marks all over them, like a pox.
There’s some variation on the return rollers regarding the holes. Some have the two defined holes only while others have what you describe. Here is a pic of one showing the two small and two large:
Visit the Allied section of my website for additional Sherman pics that will show some of the variations.
Thats the best photo yet.It looks like the kit parts try to mimic the 2 defined and the 2 shallow marks.
Remember, the return rollers were all steel as was the idler wheel. Some kit directions aren’t explicit about this and you see modellers painting them rubber colored. Only on the HVSS suspension did these have a rubber tire.
