Here’s an M4A4 firefly

Top views you want are views of either an M4A4 or M4 (dependent on the base variant). The external Firefly-specific features are minimal. What 1/16 kit are you using?

Check a website called tanxheaven. They have a lot of pictures of various tanks and other AFVs. They will most likely have pics of a Firefly.

Edit-I can’t seem to be able to pull up the site. Maybe you will have better luck.

tanxheaven has gone the way of the Dodo bird, Warhammer. A real loss to the modelling community. They and AFV Interiors used to be foundation sites for AFV research. Some others abound however. Below is the text of an article I wrote for Boresight about 2 yrs ago. There’s a lot of good stuff there (some is out of date however)

General Modeller’s tools:

  1. Tony Matteliano’s has the most comprehensive collection of links to modeling websites: http://www.scalemodelindex.com/. For our discussion, Tony’s updated list of useful AFV research sites is pretty incredible: http://scalemodelindex.buffnet.net/armref.htm.

Tanxheaven has been gone almost two years.

They had a server crash and lost all data… will probably never be back up.

Here’s a good alternate:

The image “http://www.thelastsuperman.com/disastermaster/%23t1-4.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Edit- Oops! Roy beat me to it.

I had no idea that it was gone. It has been probably a year since I was last on it. That really is to bad.

Thank you all for info.

I am going to use tamiya sherman to start.

again, thanks, toom

Am I correct that you’re converting the Tamiya 1/16 M4 (105) HVSS kit? I seem to recall there are some aftermarket companies that cater to the 1/16 field. I wouldn’t be surprised if some major conversion doesn’t exist.

You should know that the closest actual Firefly to the M4 (105) HVSS would be the US M4A3 Fireflies. All Commonwealth Fireflies were build on older M4 and M4A4 and M4 Hybrid hulls – none of which resemble the Tamiya M4 (105) HVSS.

I know that Tamiya sells a 1/16 17pdr barrel (as an upgrade to the M4 (105) I suppose) but there’s a lot more to an accurate Firefly than just a barrel change.
