I know there are tons of Sherman websites out there, but I have yet to find any with good pictures of the exposed engine. Anyone know of any?
I want to kitbash my 1/72 Hasegawa Sherman kit to have some panels open and see the Ford engine inside?

First off, let it be known that I am a Panzer builder, not a Zippo specialist, so if I have the wrong engine here, don’t kill the messenger. Without Shermanfreak here anymore, we are at somewhat of a loss for these types of questions. Surely, Robert would have much better images than these, if these are even the right ones.
Check these links. These are previously from AFV Interiors. I am not sure why it is in the said links.

Here check out the following link. There are a couple of detail shots plus a nice shot to the engine grill.

Another resource to investigate would be Squadron’s M4 Walkaround. It retails for about ten dollars and has a wealth of detail photos.
Thanks for the links everyone. FSM forum members deliver again! It will help lots. [:D]
I found some good cutaway drawings on of all things a German site:

here was good pics of the drivers compartment but I’m not gonna mess with that:

The good thing about the Sherman is that the engine is in the back and the transmission is all the way in the front (the transmission and exposed driveshaft goes right between the driver and radio operator - yikes!) I only have to build the engine.
I-beam,
I am sorry but I just got a wack from Shermanfreak just now and he told me that the engine pics I have posted are for an M4A4 and probably not what you are looking for. peridexion’s pics are the correct one. Unless I can convince you to do an M4A4 instead (he-he-he) please disregard the references I posted.
OK here are the correct pictures for the engines of an M4A3 courtesy of Shermanfreak …I mean the Unknown Sherman Modeller.[:D][;)]
No problems Dwight Ta-ala,
I really wanted the M4A3 (Ford GAA 8 cylinder engine) but I didn’t specify that in my original post so it’s my fault. That last picture of the Ford engine is excellent, thanks to you and Shermanfreak.
I started thinking though (that’s not really a good thing). Before I build a Tiger, I have to have at least 10 Shermans [;)][:D] Thats plenty of room for some M4A4’s.
Lima, Baldwin, ALCo, Ford, Chrysler, Pulman, GM, … So many Sherman versions, so little time [:)]
Well, you did say it was a Ford. That alone pretty much narrows it down. [:)]
M.
PS, thanks for the links and photos, everybody. I’m mostly-scratchbuilding a Sherman interior right now, and those closeups of the transmission and drive shaft are exactly what I needed.
