I seem to remember reading somewhere about how to set slack into rubber tank treads by using glue and something to hold the track in place but I can’t find it. Can anyone give me a suggestion or point me to an article or you tube video about how to do that? Thanks,
Hi David, my [2cnts]. I only started with Armor 1-1/2 years ago and have completed 3 with treads. To make the “sag” in the treads, I complete the top section of the treads and put them in the proper position. Then I “paint” the bottom of the section where I want the sag with Tamiya Extra Thin and wait a couple of minutes before adding thin scraps of wood above the treads pushing them down to the amount of sag you want. Let them sit overnight and then remove the wood scraps. The “sag” is permanently in place. Hope that this helps.
The old school method back in the day of Tamiya rubber bands was to tie the sagging areas down to the axles of the roadwheels below with black thread and hope it wasn’t noticeable.
Or, to drill holes through the hull and put stiff wire across to push down on the top of the tracks. Which kind of worked if you had a lot of waehering “gunk” on the tracks.
You can also glue the top run of tracks down to the tops of the roadwheels using superglue. Once you put the glue on the roadwheels, slide some popsicle sticks between the tracks and the upper hull to hold them in place until the glue dries. I usually leave them overnight to dry.
