seatbelts?

Hey guys building a trumpeter 1/32 p38. The seatbelt buckles are included in PE but for the belts themselves the instructions say use paper??

What should I use to get a good looking seatbelt?

How about masking tape? I’d also suggest cloth medical tape, which I have seen used, and it looked pretty good. I haven’t tried it yet myself, though, so I can’t speak to how to work with it.

Regards,

Brad

For 1/32 belts, I have used Tamiya tape, cloth medical tape, lead foil, and white glue soaked paper with good results. Guess it depends on which I had immediately available to me at the time. [tup]

I would use foil. It will retain whatever shape you mold it in.

ive used brown paper bags for belts vary convincing and cheap.

I was toying with using Tamiya masking tape but hadn’t thought of foil. How would you paint that?

You can prime the foil and then put on your top color. When I am doing detail painting of this sort, I prefer to work with Humbrol enamels whenever possible.

I use aluminum tape, the type used on furnace ducts… Not only holds the shape but sticks right where you want it, with no glue… I also use flattened solder from time to time… I don’t bother with priming it… I paint it after it’s in place and after I’ve given the cockpit an overspray of clear flat, so the clear acts as a primer…

OR…You could buy a Eduards cockpit PE set and it comes with seat belts…Harv
