Seasonal builder

The temps dropped, vegetation is starting to die, trees loosing leaves, reminded me I need to check on my paints and supplies at the bench. I don’t build in the summer. Modeling is pretty much a fall/winter hobby. Anyone else share this same mentality? I guess I’m a part timer to most of you , the reservist or second string of modeling, the stepchild you have visitation only with and even that is annoying.

I do all year round, its just slows down different times due to other activities, but it never actually stops.

Yeah I don’t know, I feel like I don’t have the time with my other hobby’s in the summer months, it’s more of a rainy, stormy, winter don’t want to be outside hobby for me. I work outside year round as well so in the winter a hobby inside is refreshing.

I disappeared in June when the weather got good and am just now coming back. I guess that makes me a seasonal builder too.

I don’t see myself as a seasonal builder, more of a sporadic builder. If there is a deadline of some kind I tend to build more. It may be a show that I want to attend and support by bringing at least one model, maybe it’s a model that is supposed to be a gift, or a seasonal themed model (Halloween for example).

These situations tend to drive me a bit more than anything else. I entered a group build here in hopes it will push me to finish that kit.

However, although I’m not an entirely seasonal builder, I am a full time buyer.

I am year round even though it gets ridiculously hot and muggy here in the Houston area.

I’m a sporadic builder as well - I’ll go on binges like last year where I did 16 kits. This year I finished 1 metal engine and have two kits going on the bench. I’m always involved in the hobby somehow or another.

I’m lucky if I finish 3 in a year honestly.

I’m not a seasonal builder (so far) but this summer my modeling really slowed down, almost to a standstill. I was pretty busy, but still I’m not even completely sure why I nearly stopped.

For me work hours pick up, it’s nascar season so I watch that, more bbq and outdoor time, house projects etc, friends and family….not a lot of spare time. Winter things slow down.

BINGO! That’s my modeling MO as well.

Although I do not consider myself a seasonal builder (Hawaii is pretty warm all year round), I like to build in the wintertime when it is cooler. I find it easier to concentrate when I’m not sweltering.

Painting in the patio during the summertime can be hot and miserable, even in the evenings when I paint. Sometimes the roaches in the yard throw a kegger and go crazy, so I have to retreat back into the house until their party is over.

When I was teaching, I did most of my modeling during the Summer months but now that I’m retired I’m a “Year Round” modeler.

I’m a year round modeler. My workshop has heat and ac so I can build whenever I want. My biggest issue is feeling well enough to go out there. I’ve taken a few days off this week, as the radical weather changes in Norcal are wreaking havoc on my body. These golden years are more like tarnished bronze.
