Sdkzf 222 German scout car

I was wondering if anyone has ever built this one and had any input?

Thanks,
Tank

Tamiya one? Old 70’s era kit recently reissued with a few PE parts. Kit goes together well and holds up pretty well by todays standards, but could use some extra internal details and replacement grenade screens (Aber and Eduard do them). Worth buying if you want this vehicle in your collection

Yep that’s the one…thanks

I’ll second what Peter said. Nice kit for it’s age and even better with a little extra PE added. I built mine (less PE) a good 10 years ago and I still like to look at it every-so-often.

I built the reissued version recently and it is pretty good. you can tell its a little dated compared to today’s standards, but it’s stil a pretty nice model worth purchasing. the reissued version comes with PE grenade screens and an aluminum barrel.

Someone makes a resin interior for the kit, I do not remember who off hand, but I do not think it was Verlinden.

OK, it is Royal Models. Go to http://www.modelmecca.com/ and do a search with 222 in the description field in 1/35 scale. A few detail sets pop up including the resin interior by Royal Models.

I did this kit last year as my reintroduction to modeling. It came out pretty good and was pretty easy to put togrther.

Its amazing though how far my skills have progressed in the last year.

This and the Sdkzf223 are nice little kits to build and are great platforms for trying new painting and weathering techniques, not to mention using in dioramas if you’re just getting started at building dio’s. Semper Fi, Mike

I built the new tamiya 222. Great kit with no problems, however it could use an interior.

Thanks for the input guys…I agree, interiors are very nice espcially when building dioramas or just plain displaying your models specs…It is a rip off that you pay such prices and still the model is issued incomplete…Tamiya you may have some of the best fit around but you’d better get your act together because others like dragon and academy are giving us better looks at great models for less money.

Take care,
Doug
