Are there any available known SdKfz 10 / Demag 1/35 halftrack kits as a basic primemover? Italeri versions appear to only be available with flak or pak armament. Did Dragon have one in the past? Any known AM conversions for a cargo/trooop version? Anyone know of any photo references for interior rear primemover versions?
ESCI used to have one with a 75 infantry gun in tow. I’m almost positive it’s OOP now. Might be able to find it on eBay. Sorry, can’t help more than that.
Italeri kit #375 is of the basic sdkfz 10/1 prime mover towing a nebelwerfer 42 unit.
Save your money and pass on the ESCI one. I have built it, and would not recommend it.
I’m not seeing much else available, that one looks good! There was a Revell Germany version available in the past, but it seems OOP. It’s funny that there is a shortage of these vehicles in 1/35 kit form, given their numbers in real use.
I have built the Italeria version of the Demag with the flak armament on the bed of the vehicle. It’s basically the same kit less the seating, but I just wanted to say that it came out as a pretty nice build. I know that Italeria gets some bad press sometimes, but I’ve had good luck with a number of their kits. Semper Fi, mike
i dont remember any bad fit on mine (10/5), or nothing too major. mike has reminded me I havent posted pics of mine yet, coming soon, if I remember.
Your in luck as to reference, there are a few modern day pics of restored vehicles just for modelers.
here is a link to some color pics http://tanxheaven.com/sdkfz10/sdkfz10.htm
try a search on google for sdkfz 10. I got a ton of hits.
Italeri offers the basic version, with something being towed. Also, might try to find the Revell offering. I found one at my LHS about a year ago. I don’t know if they’re being produced anymore though.
I am working on the Italeri Demag Pak 38 now, and wanted him to have a companion to haul some amo and “field friends” along for some extra defense.
I saw that site posted above with the pics, and I have some photo’s I have of the one owned by the Patton Museum here in Kentucky. However, none of them provide a clear layout as a reminder of the rear cargo/seating configuration and detail. That would be cool to help determine if that version could be scratched in.
Thanks for everyone’s feedback. I’ve always liked this track, and think it would be cool if Dragon/Tamiya or AFV would do some dandy take-off’s.
Stu. you asked if there were any after market parts on my Demag/10 build? The answer is none were used, it’s straight out of the box. Here are a couple of more pics of it. Semper Fi, mike
Looks great as is! I have a vision of a “heard” of these little Demag guys in a dio during Barbarossa, along with a 250 spotter track, and a 251 platoon leader track with a 37mm.
Sounds like an ambitious undertaking. Have you got any ideas as far as configurations of your Demags go? Great models has Italeri kit No.375 the Demag10 with towed Neblewerfer for $21.75 Thats not a bad deal. Just thought I’d throw that out to you Stu. I’d like to get it myself, but the "Empress has put me on a short chain for the rest of this month. Seems I like to spend $100.00 when she says only $50.00 Wives are not very understanding when it comes to our needs. LOL. Semper Fi, mike
From what I heard, the Italeri Demag is manufactured from the same moulds as the ESCI kit, and the revell is just a rebox of the basic kit from Italeri moulds. I didn’t find the kit that bad at all. The fit of the parts was actually pretty good. Highly recommended.
Vision is: Wermacht, 1 Demag Pak 38 Antitank, 1 Demag ammo/troop carrier, SdKfz 221 w/o large antenna as scout/mg support, 250 as spotter/mg support and 251 with Panzergrenadiers. Yeah, a bit aggressive, but it would make a nice action scene. May settle for a couple of the above in seperate dio’s or vignettes.
