Scratchbuilt 1/87 Bus

Its a Victory Liner bus still plying local roads. The bus was one of a batch of second hand units imported from Japan, converted into left-hand drive units, and pressed into local service. While the unit came with an overhead airconditioning unit, the bus is operated as a non-airconditioned service.

The model is made from sheet styrene, clear acetate from my daughter’s Barbie doll, cast resin wheels, and a little metal. The decals were printed from a computer.

Here are some in-progress pics:

Comments very much welcome.

This is absolutely gorgeous! Excellent scratchbuilding! Just beautiful work.

Kind regards-

Very impressive build of an unuseal subject!

Wow, that is really cool! 1/87, too! That’s got to be about 12cm long? That’s a lot of detail for something so small. Very well done!

Thank you very much for the compliments.

Beautiful work Allan! Can you post a photo of it next to something like a quarter, ruler, or exacto knife to get a sense of the size?

Jeff

Incredible work Allen…What was your time spent on this build? Amazing![tup]

Incredible job!

Any plans to put a jeep-me beside it?

Thanks again, for the kind words.

Jeff,

I will do that, as soon as my home PC is fixed. I couldnt upload new photos ever since my home PC konked out.

Daniel,

You mean a jeepney? Ive always planned to build one, and hopefully I could finally start after Im done with my on going projects and commitments.

Steve,

The project took me about three, four months, on and off.

BEAUTIFUL work Allen, I especially like the in progress pictures.

I build in 1/87 also and will have to post some of my work…although it’s HO trains, I’m sure some of the modelers here would appreciate the work.

Your scratch building abilities are very evident here, and the bus looks simply awesome !!..VERY impressive work !

Jerry

Dear Allan, This is an excellent piece of work. 1:87 interests me very much as I am into HO gauge model railroad.

The images are also very useful. Being a noveice in scratch building, I would very much appreciate it if you can give a little more details on the construction steps- how and from where did you convert the scale, tools used, casting. how did you make the seats, etc.

Thanks for sharing

Gautam
