Hi;
So You want to build something ? Well , first let me tell you a few things and you think about it and then proceed . First and foremost what is your subject ? Does it Fly , Float , Move about in the woods or does it tool down the Nation’s highways ?
Many times I have seen Dios that are well thought out , but , the vehicle ( or piece of Armor) doesn’t look right .Why ? Well was it built on sound research ? Did you build the hood to long ( say a Half-Track .Or are your bogies wrong for that era ? ).
Now here’s where the hardest part comes in .You are itching to start . What are you doing to find about your subject ? Nothing ? Well , believe me , that will show to other modelers .O.O.B. is all right but remember , you have no box of parts or instructions here .
O.O.B. in this case means out of the Brain . Yup , that pile of grey matter that runs the system that will get er built ! Does yours have the info you will need ? Why not ? There’s plenty of referrences around .You and only you have to get out and go find them .
Some are now thankfully no further than the computer you are reading this on . Some are at a library somewhere .Or there plenty of source books at Hobby Shops everywhere . Do your research and carefully determine what you will need besides the pile of plastic you are going to start from .
Materials are as important as research .Research provides you with the measurements and the equipment your model needs to look great . This cannot be ignored .Do your research then gather your materials from whatever source you are comfortable with and get ready .Now go for it .Happy Modeling ! T.B. P.S. Don’t forget , Anything is fair game when Scratch-Building , so Don’t ( within Reason ) throw good stuff away .( Thanks for the reminder,Pawel )
