Greetings all,
Does anyone know if Testor, Tamiya or some other major paint maker offers the color for U.S. school buses?
I’d rather not have to mix one.
Thanks in advance!

I’ve seen school bus yellow in spray cans at several auto parts stores, I think it was Duplicolor or Krylon’s equipment paint line.
The proper colour is “National School Bus Chrome Yellow, Federal Standard 595a number 13432”
I used Humbrol Yellow #69 with a few drops of Humbrol Scarlet #60 added to the can. Basically I added red until it matched the colour on a small diecast school bus model I have. I prefer to use hobby paints, but I’m sure an auto paint supplier could mix up a spray can for you.
Oh yeah, my bus…
Thanks for the info guys!
I’d rather not have to mix a color so I’ll try giving the Krylon / DupliColor angle a try.
I’ll be sure to post a picture of my project once I get it finished.

Nice bus hct728! the custom color suits it perfectly.
Great looking bus, what scale is it?
it’s funny this is mentioned. I was in Wal-Mart today in the craft section because I was looking for butternut yellow for my friend’s 67 chevelle I’m doing. I actually saw School bus yellow in the acrylic craft paints. Try there.
An excellent color for modeling is Scale Coat TTX Yellow. I compared a model freight car painted in Scale Coat TTX Yellow and was an excellent match. TTX Yellow is a Model Train Paint
