Anyone know if any exist in any scale?
I think I saw some on clearance at HobbyLink Japan… [whstl]
Interesting that you should mention it now, with all the stuff happening in Japan.
Obviously, you are not familiar with Manny’s reputation…
he DOES in fact know…
My brother built a model of nuclear power plant back in the 60’s. I think Revel made it. I’ll be talki8ng to him tomorrow… see if he remembers more about it.
What do you mean?

this what you’re talking about?
That’s the one… Think it sold for about $10.00 back in the day.
Heljan (Danish model company carried by Walthers) makes a model in (supposedly) HO scale-1/87.I built it last year-not all that accurate and a very different design than the Fukushima plant. The Heljan design has the classic 'hour glass’cooling tower. It is a very easy build if you are serious about the question
How about this?
Hey , MANNY , what,s with you .Don,t you like submarines anymore ?? LOL.LOL.LOL. I do know of one and I can,t remember what scale it is but , it,s paper . The only one that REVELL did has never seen the light of day for over forty years . It,s easier to get the oil platform or the big GERMAN mining machine than the reactor .You could get the paper model and use it as a pattern to do one in plastic . tankerbuilder
Well I was thinking of putting a reactor on a type IX U-boat and calling it a Kreigsmarine '46 “what-if?” paper project
Kreigs-'46??
My LHS has a section behind glass with vintage models. It has a sign that reads, THESE MODELS ARE NOT FOR SALE, BUT IF YOU HAVE TO HAVE IT. PRICES AS MARKED.
They do have the Revell mint in box and I believe it is 1/144. If memory serves me well, the price tag is $400.
We have a new modeling genre!
Soon, we’ll have Manny starring in, “Das Boot Zwei: the hunt for the type CCXXIX”
So do we clamor for Revell to re-release the kit so we can do a Manny Nuke powered U-Boat build ?
BTW…did the old Renwal US Sub kits have nuclear reactors as part of the kit interior components?
Years ago, I saw that Revell nuclear plant kit at a model kit expo and wanted to buy it, as I thought it would make an interesting “go-with” for my telephone-pole insulator collection.
Then I saw the price–five hundred bucks for the dang thing. (I didn’t buy it.)
Sounds like Manny may need to visit the Hardware Store PVC plumbing department for some scratch-building components.
It may be the only practical way to duplicate the Revell kit’s building shell.
Looking at the box artfor the first time, it appears to be a fairly detailed model of the PWR’s of the day. Its almost like a Westinghouse salesman’s version of the big three’s car promos. It looks like Revell included feedwater heaters, condensors and boiler feed pumps under the turbine. Its kind if difficukt to identify what all is in the reactor side.
it sure wouldn’t be any fun being the turbine side operators in Nothern winters.
It would be nice to break some collectors heart by building that kit[8-|] If only it wasn’t so pricey
Carl
I’d build it. Where I’d put the finished model in this little apartment is another issue.[:)]
