sand

I am building a diorama at the moment. The terrain is sandy, and am unsure how to apply the sand, I don’t want to use the glue, and sprinkle method. What should I do? Thanks PBJGuy

What about using spray adhesive?

Or if you are looking for more of the “sand dune” type terrain what about sculpting it from dense foam?

Or you could use house paint from the mis-tint section of the local hardware store with your sand added to the paint and roll it on.

Just a few thoughts.

Hey PBJ-1H, what are you using for sand? Real sand, or is there a better source? I was wanting to make a small display base for a tank and use sand, but real sand looks like it would be way to course. Any ideas? Thanks for letting me hi jack your thread [:D]

Well, as you said, I don’t think I would use real sand, but I’ve bought different colored sand at craft stores.
Also I tries using the adhesive method! It worked great, I worked in layers, sprinkeling, then spraying! Thanks alot for all your advice:)

PBJGuy;

Glad to help!

I just read recently where another method to try on your next diorama is to use Gerbil Dust. It is a fine particle that is ultra clean and cheap from the pet store. The alternative is the fine sand that can be used in a reptile tank.
