Hi all,
I am finishing up my first model, a Mark V Spitfire. I was applying my decals with microset/sol and made the mistake of using the sol first and when i laid on the first decal i couldn’t move it without distorting it. Fortunately I could tell moving it was going to be bad before doing noticeable damage. Unfortunately the decal is laying in a poor position. Is there any way I can salvage this and reposition the decal? I’ve now allowed the microsol set decal to dry.
Thanks in advance,
Victor
I’ve had to do this myself but I don’t know if I’ve ever attempted to do it after applying micro sol. Basically you have to somehow soak the decal in water for awhile. If it is easy to submerse it in water without affecting other decals that is the best way but otherwise you may just have to keep applying water with a brush until you can lift an edge. Once you have a edge to work on use a small soft brush to work the water under the decal (gently and slowly). Keep lots of water on it so that it doesn’t fold over and stick to itself. Some decals are just too thin to manipulate like this, especially if they have had micro sol applied but it has worked for me in the past. Good luck.
