SA-2 - Feedback?

Hi Everybody,

First, a picture for you all:

Anyway, this is obviously Trumpeter’s 1/35 SA-2 missile, which is just a few touches of weathering away from completion. As this was my first ever 1/35 scale kit I’d be very happy if anybody had any comments or feedback.

Well, it’s certainly good enough to make a pilot tremble!

Loooks the part, for sure! Nice build–I wasn’t even aware that this was out!

NICE SAM, Hey Maverick, ahh… I see a little blip on my screen, could you check your rear view mirror? CHECK SIX! CHECK SIX!

Very nice looking build. I’m impressed with the decal/data application on the missle. Lots of fine print and stripes you did there. Keeping that much straight isn’t easy, so congradulations on that. Personally, I don’t like decal applications, so I admire a person who can do what you did with your model. Again, nice work!

Nice job BGuy - haven’t seen this one very often.

I might point out that it’s a SA-2, not a SA-6 though.

That’s cool looking. I don’t think I would want to be flying against that. Great build.

Aak! Just a typo, I assure you. Thanks for the correction.

Looks nice and clean. The decal work on the missle is fantastic. I’d probably apply another light-gray wash to the missle. That particular kit, IIRC, has lots of nice panel lines, bolts, and rivets all over the body of the rocket.

My thoughts exactly; it’ll be getting a nice sludge wash this weekend probably.

I remember a pilot saying once that it was like being chased by a flying telephone poll.

Nice job.

It’s very impressive on the stand like that.

I may need to get that kit after all.

Sweet. You may want to thinly wash or dust the misile w/ pastels to knock-down the brightness of it.

really nice, really differnt…maybe you should cross post in the aircraft forum and give some of the airheads a scare! In jest of course… well done!

Really sweet there BGuy! Any chance of getting a couple more photos/angles?

HEY!!! I got that kit in 1/72 scale. I built the entire thing, but only got to paint the launcher. Still trying to get it right. I need to clean the build on the missile before I get to paint it. The kit did bring all those decals and i was wondering if it would be worth it. I see this one and it looks great. I’ll just have to see if the smaller scale will even compare. Thanks for the inspiration BGuy!!!

That looks awesome fella. Really nice work. Any chance of having a comparative size shot with something else you have in the same scale. Id like to see just how big these suckers were.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the rave reviews–I certainly didn’t expect such positive responses. Tonight I’ll try getting in some pics of the model, a size comparision (even though it’s the only thing I have built in 1/35) and a larger shot of the (new) display case I have for the 1-5% of my projects that I’m actually proud of. [{(-_-)}]

Ok guys, as promised, I’ve got some more pics for you, as requested!:

First, my brand-new model display case:

Now for some close-ups of that SA-2 you’ve all be asking after; my watch is in the picture for a sense of scale:

And since you’re bound to ask, here are the rest of the shelves in the case:

2nd shelf:

3rd Shelf:

4th Shelf:

Something tells me you’ll have more questions after all these; oh well [:P]

looks a nice cool respectable build to me from here.

Terry.
