s.W.s & 3.5cm Flak 43

I need some help here!. I’ve done a Google search, even put-up a shout on this forum; No luck.

I saw this model in January’s issue of “Scale Military Modeller” the builder has the same problem that I have.

I need pics of the back of the armored cab, it’s open to the weather and I don’t think it should be.

I did think of putting a rolled-up screen but I don’t think that would be right.

Any one have an answerer?.

I’m notorious at getting pics onto this site but here goes

I also have to say this is the most frustrating build I have done; it started with the tracks etc, etc, etc

From what i found it looks like it may be correct below is a pic i found somewhere and a link to a museum piece which shows something like you have.

Biffa, Thanks for coming back to me. Trouble is I cannot get info of the back of the Cab. It looks too open and exposed!.

It looks like the pic shows the rear of the cab open, check the link below the pic it shows it wide open too, also it shows metal seats possibly meaning they would be exposed to the elements somewhat maybe?

Edit* the metal seats was an assumption on my part because i am building the RSO with pak which as an exposed drivers station with metal seats.

Oh and you should probably fix the title as that gun is the 3.7cm Flak43 not the 3.5cm Flak43. And where did you get all the extra 3.7cm ammo clips at? you didn’t get a whole buttload of LionRoar Flak43 3.7cm ammo with clip did you?

You are right, typing error. The ammo came with the kit, even have some shell cases to do.

It look as if its open, just doesn’t seem right to me. Thanks for helping…Kenny

My educated guess is that it was open…crew comfort was not always the #1 priority for vehicle design…the armor was probably designed around an open cab to protect the crew from shell splinters or small calibre rifle fire from the front and sides…an open back would also allow the crew to serve the gun quickly…I found this and it does appear to show an open rear with perhaps a drape for keeping the chill out:

That conversion may well be my next build, Manny!

Cool…doog…these may help:

Better image of rear cab (also confirms kit in thread is correct)-

In ACTION-

You never did say who manufactured this kit

I found this picture.

And here is a link with more pictures.

My guess is it’s an Italeri kit.

Italeri does do some nice armor subjects. Though you can probably get away with using the Tamiya Flakvierling 38 or the Tamiya/LionRoar Flak 43 in place of the kit issued one.

Actually it is a Revell of Germany kit in 1/35 scale

took a bit of searching to find

Same kit, different box. RoG reboxes older Italeri kits quite frequently.

Yes it is a revell kit.

To every one that has helped me on this; Thank you, you have been most helpful!..Kenny

What a great forum this is!.
