Rye Fields Sherman M4A3 76W HVSS with Full Interior: Start-to-Finish Build

Oh that looks cool! I’ve got to try one of those some day…

Could you maybe just put a carpet down on top of the stairs to cover the gap? I mean it’s not a great idea considering sliding up and breaking your neck but I think I’ve seen them in some period movies.

That’s a terrific idea! I found an oriental carpet runner image on line and then did some CorelDraw magic to add to its length to match the total developed length of the stair case. I also found a lot of other carpets that I sized to fit into the various rooms. Add that to a massive amount or Victorian wall papers that I found and image managed and I now have all the internal surfaces covered. And yes, I have a parquet wood floor too for under all those carpets. I always get inspiration from folks who read my threads.

I actually offered someone USEFUL advice for a change!?! [:^)]

I hope it works for you, I’ve been offering so much bad advice I’ve almost given up trying to help people!

That turned out super great!

Love that O.D. color and the interior is fabulously detailed. You did an amazing job on this build.

Thank you! As I note before (more than once) it was a very challenging kit. I’m expecting the Meng Bradley to be much more relaxing.

Here’s an image of the Persian stair runners. I also made wall paper and carpets for the rest of the house. I’ve designed a chandelier that I think I can produce in 1:48 using fiber optics. We’ll see if that works. It will be a multi-media project with brass and 3D printed parts. I tested one strip this afternoon and the length is sufficient to do the entire flight.

This is a sample of the wall paper for the foyer. I drew the wainscotting and chair rail.

This is the foyer with the wall paper applied. I’m using MicroMark Pressure Sensitive Adhesive, and have found after doing the first walls that it works better applied to the wood surface and letting it dry a bit, than applying it to the paper. When it’s applied to the wood it soaks in a bit and provides a good lock. The paper holds well without glue on it.

If I’m going to keep posting about this model, I should start another thread. Is there a forum for odd-ball stuff like this?

And here are the Persian carpets sized to fit specific rooms.

That’s so cool! I bought some dollhouse carpets and wallpaper years ago to use for some destroyed buildings in dios but still haven’t gotten around to using them yet. Your stuff is probably more in scale.

I’m not sure where it should go. I guess the diorama forum would work. Or the figures and misc. one would as well.

Thanks! There’s always a challenge in doing interiors in smaller scales. I will do a test post in the diorama forum and see if there’s any interest in seeing all the gory details. Just describing how I did the 3D drawings and prints is a study all in itself. It was the ability to produce the intricate architecture that made the model possible for me. I suppose I could scratch-build a master and resin print them, which I’ve done, would be the other route, but it’s much more difficult for me.
