Help!!
Does anyone know of any models in any scale of ANY of Burt Rutan’s amazing planes? Like the Varieze, Voyager, Viggin, Raptor, Boomerang, Proteus, Defiant, Quickie, Spaceship One and the White Knight?
Any help appreciated.
Don’t know of any kits ever released of these amazing birds. He trully is one of the greats in his field. I doubt the Spaceship One would be out, since it’s a very new design.
If anyone knows of any kits, I also would be very interested.
Here’s one that i found at hannants.co.uk:

I figured the Voyager would be the most likely to have a model. [:D]
Thanks, Shrikes…
I’ll have a look at that one…
The only ones I know of aren’t really kits, they’re the mahogany display models in various scales. And they’re very expensive to boot.
Lee: Glad to be of help!
roadkill: I’ve always wanted to own one of those for my desk! Maybe an A-6 Intruder or a B-17! [:)]
You don’t want the EZ, or the one he designed for Beech?? I sure wish they would make more general aviation aircraft!!! I would love a Beech King Air in 1/48!!!
Hear, hear! Even one in 1/72!!
I have seen the “Amodel” Rutan Voyager on EBay before, but none on todays search. I concur with the opinion that more General Aviation subjects should be pursued by plastic model manufacturers, as there exist a HUGE untapped market… for someone. [;)]
I’m currently working a 1/48 Modelcraft Cessna 172, which required modification by dropping the wing’s mounting surface and reshaping the aft cabin window frames. I’m fixing it up like 1976 172M #N969OH, which was the airplane I took my wife out on our first date in! [:)] (this fact will allow it’s display on center stage of our home entertainment center!!) [;)][8D]
Yes… a 1/48 King Air 200 would be sweet!!
Take care,
Frank
Here’s the Spaceship One and the White Knight:

They may have others, but I didn’t look.

Did Rutan work on the Beech Starship too? THAT’S a great looking plane!
Execuform did a 1/72 Vacuform Beechcraft Starship back in the mid-1990’s
Yeah that’s the one…the Starship…unfortunately, they are recalling all of them, and scrapping 'em. I think there’s less than a dozen left, and Rutan will eventually be the only one left with one. They were nice, they just came at the wrong time…
What on Earth could be their reasoning for wanting to scrap the Starship? Considering the efforts that people and organizations go through these days to locate and restore great old aircraft, you would think that they would hang on to the very few Starships left. Is it a liability issue or something? That they don’t ever want to see them fly again?
I just don’t get it.

Something about not wanting to manufacturethe parts…let me see if I can track down the article again Stinger, I read it a couple months ago in Pacific Flyer
Stinger here is a link that is very informative as the site is dedicated to the Starship. I was wrong about a couple of things though, they are going to donate a few to museums, and supposedly store a couple, and the estimate is 9 in Private hands that they will use the ones they collect to help supply parts for.

kik,
Thanks for that info and the website link. I feel a little better now. Quoting from that link that “it was the right idea at the wrong time”, I would agree. Perhaps in time it will re-emerge as the trend setting design it was intended to be, and in that vein of thought, my faith is strong in Boeing’s 7E7 project. I think they are on the right track for air travel as it is today.

I hear ya!!! Did you see the “Graveyard” pics on the link?? What a shame!! BTW, love you’re sig pic!!! That’s kick !@# …do you have any links to the Boeing project? I haven’t heard too much about it myself, and now you have my curiosity tickled!
There is a pic of a Rutan creationon http://www.paperwarbirds.com in the competition gallery.
