Russian rail gun

Here is a pic of my scratch-built Russian rail gun.

that is a very cool piece of work, what scale is it? with the use of all the railroad guns and armored trains the germans had its nice to be reminded that thier eastern apponent used stuff just as wicked cool.nice job.[8D]

That’s very impressive!

Very cool, philo! What’s it’s story? What did you build it out of–did you have plans, drawings for it?

I’m always fascinated by scratchbuilt stuff–to create something out of nothing; man, that’s talent!

And what’s with the “Aberdeen” regalia?

Awesome work!! [#ditto] on the above questions. And more pics please…

Ok I saw an article in FSM and was impressed by it .So I prepared drawings and cut the sides, top and end pieces out of .80 styrene.I then resin-cast 3 T-28 tank turrents and used various parts from my spares stash as well as sheet and strip styrene.Being an o-gauge modeler,I put in a Lionel 0-4-0 power truck in the center along with front and rear freight car trucks.I it is approximately 1/35 SCALE(THE T-28 TURRENTS ARE 1/35 SCALE).It has a working headlight which came from an old Game-boy illuminator.I decided to paint it in German cammo to represent a captured railgun which was then shipped to the U.S. after the war for evaluation(hence the Aberdeen markings). It does look good going down the track and the old lionel motor has a suitable growl that is really cool!Guests never fail to ask about it and it is a great conversation piece!l

Definitely a very original piece of work. Do you know the name of the machinery, or have any other resources or information available about it?

VEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRYYY COOL! Congratulations on a well-rendered, unique piece of work! [#toast][tup]

Do they actually have one of these in the flesh over at Aberdeen? I’d like to see it.

Here is a pic of one of the construction drawings
I am trying to find the issue that featured the rail-gun!I know it has a funny name(Stretmytel or some such name)If anyone remembers the issue please provide details such as when it was puiblished(e.g.Sep 2002).

That’s a pretty impressive subject. Would like to know more about its use. Nicely done.

Thanks Tiger!I built it about 3 years ago so I will have to search my memory for the construction details!
OK the railgun was featured in the March 2000 issue of FSM but I can’t seem to find it.I do know that the railgun was called a Striemitielnyl.(Some word .huih?)
I can’t even pronounce it let alone spell it!
