Ok, since i am lazy, i am posting an all new topic, instead of in the sherman build. I would like to know what kinds of shermans the Soviets used in WWII, and if the French used them or not, and what types. Did you get all of that? I thought that these countries would have a different spin to them other than the Anglo-Amercan-Canadian types. Well-decal wise anyways.[;)]
I believe the Russian army only recieved M4A2 variants of the Sherman, both 75 and 76mm type.
The French on the other hand recieved just about everything under the sun.
Here’s a link to the French Armoured Divisions and their Shermans. Tons of pics to choose from.

Shermanfreak is dead on.
I have photo’s of French M4A4’s.
And I think the Russians only got the M4A2 due to it having a diesel engine (just like almost everything else the Russians had).
Here’s a site that has tons of pictorial references on hundreds of separately identified French Shermans. If you’ve got trouble with the linguo, let me know!
Thanks guys! This is what i need- i think i might do a pair-one of each, M4A2’s in different services. Like the same kit-so i might need a good one-didn’t somebody just release a new M4A2? Also, who makes kits of M4A2’s?
oh yeah, dj, i think that i can bluff my way throught the french-i have a german class-if that helps… but Les Sherman is the sherman-so i can manage, thanks
Sorry Beav … no M4A2’s in plastic on the market quite yet. Academy is just in the process of releasing one with the 76 which would be good for the Russian Sherman for sure. The earlier production M4A2 with the 75 is supposed to be released at a later date. DML has also announced a release of the same 2 models.
Unless you want to go with a resin conversion kit ??
Tank Workshop and Verlindin both had M4A2 upper hulls for conversions.
Thanks guys, i guess I have to wait a bit, but in the mean time, i can wait for that academy-have they announced what it includes?
also, i have never worked with a resin conversion.
do you suggest getting one of those nifty verlindin catalogs?
My suggestion for resin is to go here:
Talk with either Rich or Joy. Great People and they can get most anything.
One thing to remember about resin though, most are limited run kits (some very limited). And after a short period of time are unavailable for awhile.
if you go to the Verlinden Web site the whole cataloge is online
Formations also make a conversion set to make a M4A2

Formations has been getting nothing but rave reviews on every site that I have seen. Their product is top grade, very accurate, very clean. Heard nothing but kudos.
