Ruff Ride (11 Pics)

Hope you like these. [^]

I did the lighting a bit different for the next two.

I think you’ve done a good job, however, the rust is overdone IMHO.

Hey,… it’s a “Ruff Ride”
It’s also in 1/25 scale.
Thank you.

[:D] looks good to me,nice job.[:D]

Fine weathering. Like Steve said, maybe a little too much rust, but it is a fine build. Which kit is it? Are they AM tracks?

awesome build

looks good dude! love it

That looks great! The rust may be over done, but otther than that it’s really good!

Nice work!

I thought the general consensus was that you could never have too much rust on a Russian WWII vehicle? Looks good to me!

Is it the Tamiya 1/25 kit? Looks like you did a lot of work correcting the turret shape.

Nice!

Looks great! I didn’t think it was all rust; I thought most of it was mud and dirt!

Nice work!

looks great, personaly i prefere mine all beat to hell also and this one fits the bill, nice job.

Very nice work.Personally ya can’t show 'em beaten up enough.Great work.

Very nice work. I thought you’d probably want to see more rust on the tracks on the vehicle, not just the extra pads.
How come the barell is a different colour, or is it just the lighting?

Thanks fellas.
War is hell and so was this kit. Tigerman, this is vintage 1969 Tamiya in 1/25 scale. The suspension is fully workable and the tracks work perfectly.
Yes Duke, most of what looks like rust is mud (especially under - on and around the track sponsons). There is a slight overall residue of snow camo after a hard winter campaign. The discoloration on the tracks is ground in dirt , mud, crushed rubble. The intended rust appearance is concentrated on the spare track links.
The turret was incorrect and had to be redone. The glacis machine gun was incorrect and had to be reshaped.
Hey, zokissma the barrell is a slightly different color to replicate a (in the field) barrel replacement. There is less rust on the tracks (active) because it is very late war and the russians are constantly on the move.
Biffa , J-Hulk and STUG 61. Good to know you share my views on ruff ride. I love the look of realism on a model.
Life can be ugly. NO pretty tanks here.
Thank all of you for your comments,
Steve

Hi,looks great[:)],how did you make the dirt on the ground?
cheers,
-SSpanzer,

The red ride … truly the sprirt of the russia armour in 1944-1945

The red ride… hmmmm. Ya know, that’s pretty good too.
That base was literally “THROWN” together about ten years ago for another project. The “rubble” was a bit out of scale for 1/35 so I never used it. It’s much better suited to 1/25 scale and was what I had at the time to maximize the quality of this subject.

The ingredients for the Dio are:

  1. Styrofoam roughly cut to shape for the elevated area.
  2. Base and styro covered in paper towels and then soaked with water/white glue mix.
    Paint a dark ground color.
  3. Re-coated with glue/water mix and added various herbs and spices for groundwork.
    (chilipowder,oregano, basil leaves,paprika)
  4. Neutral colored cat litter.
  5. And from the backyard (or frontyard) add twigs, branches.

Toss this salad in an educated guess and generously coat with dullcoat. (which helps kill that fresh tossed salad odor)

It looks like (from the feedback) that I’m pretty close to the mark on the weathering. However, everyone has a opinion and a different perception of things which I respect.
I thank you for your encouragement.
