"Royal Flush", "Rosie's Riveter" bolth flown by Robert "Rosie" Rosenthal...

I am sure most of you had heard that this Man died a few days ago…I have been reading up on this man and he was a remarkable individual!!! Like many who served in WW II they gave so much!

Not to detract from what he has done, but does anyone happen to have pictures of either plane he felw, I would like to put them away for a future project that I might do, I have tried searching the web, but I have come up with nothing…

Any help would be apreciated…

Ashton

ok, I found pic of “Rosies Riveter” Can any one tell me which model this is? B-17F?

Thanks,

Ashton

Ashton,

I did not know that Robert Rosenthal had passed, thanks for posting that. He was a legend in a legendary group.

Which plane are you planning to model? Royal Flush (B-17F-45-VE 42-6087) is the more famous Fort and, contrary to some accounts, IS the one flown by Rosenthal on the Munster mission where his crew is the only one from the 100th BG to return but Rosies Riveters (B-17F-120-BO 42-30758) is Rosenthal’s original B-17 and the one that is usually associated with him.

Pat,

Way back when I was in the 7th grade, I did a little 2 page(it sure seemed like alot then!!) report on Mr. Rosenthal…when I was younger I had such a intrest in the B-17 I remember that I had several, one of which was hanging from my ceiling…the kit came w/ a few crew guys…so w/ the help of my mom I made the plane look like it had been hit in 2 of the engines…a bit of cotton ball stretched out on a peice of wire…, but I had placed the crew member as if he was jumping out the rear waist door…

Doing the report Mr. Rosenthal, and building the above model made history seem so alive to me…

To answer your question I was planning on building both acutally…though i have had a hard time finding images of “Royal Flush” but I will keep looking

Maybe one day, I will rebuild my hanging diorama…
