rotary tool paint mixer.

A couple of weeks ago I posted in anouther thread about an idea that I had.
Now I am sure that alot of us tried to think of a way to mix paint with a rotary tool but didn’t want to fling paint all over the shop because of the high speeds.
My friends I have found the way.
Get your self a rotary tool with very low speed.
I use a dremmel mini mite.

#1)Next take a piece of sprue(the frame that the model parts come on) about three inchs long.

#2) put heat to one end of the sprue until it is soft.

#3)Flaten out the soft end of the sprue with a pair of pliers or anouther tool.

#4) Now take the piece and put it in the rotary tool.
This may require that change the collets in the tool or shaving down the piece to fit.

once the tool is assembled place the bit in to your paint jar then turn on the tool.
If you turn on the tool before its put in the jar you will be a mess.
Set the tool on the slowest speed you got and your done.

I have tried this on old paints as well and it will bring that 10 year paint back to life.

Try it out I think you will be pleased.

To quote Capt. America…SHAZAAM!!! I never thought of this one but I like it. I’ll give it a try. Up till now I’ve been using a home-made bracket that I attach to my sabre-saw. Shakes the hell out of paint, but occasionally a bottle flies off or the bracket comes loose.

Thanks
Tom

I put a piece of straight wire with a loop bent into the end into a battery operated exacto drill. You can use any solvent to clean it without worry.

Good idea. love that sabre saw idea too and the picture in my head is pretty funny.

The funniest paint shaker suggestion I’ve heard is to attach the paint bottle to the pad of an orbital sander. I’ve never tried it but imagine try explaining it to the wife. She’ll be certain you’ve finally gone over the edge.

I love the saw idea.
I am trying to picture that too.
Imagine the old lady walking in on that one…

However that gives me anouther idea.
Have you guys ever seen those ultra sonic jewery cleaners?
Its basicly a battery operated cup that you put solution in and vibrates like hell.
(The solution is just a cleaner for the jewery).
I guess you could experiment with it and see if it shake paint better with or with out fluid in it.

I wonder if my wife will notice hers is missing?

How about getting a B&D portable screwdriver thats rechargable & get a standard collet. This tool goes slow enough to mix paint & also can be used as a small lathe to taper and other functions
