Rolls Royce Merlin V-1650 (aftermarket) in 1/32 or 1/24?

Does anyone make an aftermarket 1/32 or 1/24 Rolls Merlin?

Or is scratch building the only option?

Anyone?

Doc

1/32 is comin on strong in the amarket , I would check Aires ,CMK , or Vector.I have stuff from all of these manufacturers all good to great.By the way your V-1650 description is for another engine and( I believe) does not apply to the mighty Merlin which were 1-266 ,going from 890 hp to 1300 hp. ,designations. Allison had a V-12 of V-1710 designation but this was prior to thier licence building of the RR Merlin. Hang on! I found reference to the licence built Merlin68 -that is the one you are looing for -Packard V-1650-1 Used in Canadian Mossies ,P-40F Warhawks , Lancasters.Later designations were for the Mustangs P-51D And Mustang III 's. What is the plane you are building, post a pic if poss.

Allison did not build the Merlin, Packard did.

The only visual difference would be whether the engine had the two speed two stage supercharger of the type used in the Mustang or Spitfire Mk IX, which had a large intercooler box on the top rear. The other type is the earlier lower altitude type such as in the Mk V Spitfire or Hurricanes, or the P-40F/L. So which are you looking for, what aircraft is it intended for?

You beat me to it, John. Packard-built Merlins had a number 2 inserted in front of the RR numerical model designation, such a 266 for a Merlin 66 version.

yes corrected …still wanna see a pic ,I bet itsa mustang

Try “Engines and Things”.

Lol

Alright guys…

I’m a self proclaimed Mustang freak.

Its a disease that I’m trying to find pills for (NOT!)

Doing some basic research for a couple of stangs’ I have in my very small stash (yeah right!) as I am a “reasonable” man!

hahahahahahaha

Anyways, also picked up the new 1/24 Jug (P-47 for you number guys) …

Also have some 1/24 Spit stuff…

There’s a series I started collecting, so 1/24 Merlins are needed…

I’m surprised no one has done a super scale Monogram Phantom Mustang!

Of the several (phantom stangs’) I have in my (small cache!) …

Thinking about an aftermarket Merlin, or a B model conversion in 1/32, since Trumpeter has a clear fuse for thier B.

Problem is, is the inboard leading edges on the B are different than the D…

More challenges…

Hmmmmm

Doc

Can’t help withthe leading edge stuff ,need engine pix I can…

The Airfix 1/24 P-51D has a very detailed engine, it is not at all the same as the one in their Spitfire or Hurricane. If you can have a look at it.

Yeah A cousin just propositioned me with that kit

lol

Think he’s after some of my Jug stock (p-47 goodies)!

Why can’t I just have em all!

Doc

I have the airfix 1/24 Mustang(D) and Spit 1and the bandai P-51D if we gotta compare…

Hahahahaha

I have the same birds, minus the airfix stang’

But I’ve built one before, just can’t figure out where it went!
