This is a recent diorama that I did. It is 1/72 scale and based on actual events at the Battle of Waterloo June 18, 1815. The figures are made by Hat. It took me about 2 and 1/2 weeks to complete. The base is a picture frame obtained at Walmart. It is my first attempt at a diorama. Looking around the forum, I think my work pales in comparasion. However, I am very proud of it because I managed to build it at the height of my back injury. Let me know what you think and be gentle please!
Oh yeah. I majored in History in college too. Mainly studied Military history from civil war on though. Yeah, I feel stupid, shuold have remembered that though.
Thanks for the kind words. Just a little bit of History, these belonged to the Royal Horse Artillery. They were used by the British during the Napoleonic Wars starting in Spain during the Peninsular War. With that being said, Wellington always hated them and thought them worthless. Hope you enjoy.
Wow thats a great job!!! I did a dio on Waterloo about 15 years ago. I did a whole battle scene though. Your dio is very detailed with the figures and I like that alot. I never knew they used rockets myself. Its alot better then mine was [^]
Again a very good job.
Hi. smokin,
I think your Dio’s[bow].
In reguards to some of your replys I’d Like to set the rockets issue to rights no reflection on yourself.
The British Army during the peninsular war began testing the use of the Rocket as a Battlefield weapon this was four years before Waterloo The task was Given to the Royal Horse Artillery as it was deemed to be of better use to the Galloping Gunners the nickname of the RHA at the time an Officer called Cptn. Ramsay was given the honour of trialing the rockets as the Prince Regent ( the Prince of Wales) had wished them to be included into the Army the results weren’t good but he badgered Wellington into given them a Battle field test the rest is history and Ramsay’s Troop as it became is still in existance to this day albeit no longer using the “Rockets” which made him famous within the Royal Regiment of Artillery of which I myself am proud to be an ex gunner.
