After pouring through numerous books, websites, and other such reference materials, I’m beginning my build of the Revell 1:48 SBD Dauntless. As per the title, I’ll be painting it according to RNZAF specs for the 25 Sqn. out of Seagrove in July 1943.
Doesn’t look like it should be that difficult of a build, though I have heard/read a few horror stories about this particular kit because the parts come from 1960 molds. No worries for me, I enjoy a challenge.
Have started removing bits from the sprues, doing a bit of sanding, as well as hand drilling the holes in the dive flaps. Should be doing some priming and light painting in the near future. Will post up photos as the project progresses.
Hey all. Sorry for having “gone dark” since the last post. Have made some progress on the build. Painted up the interior, pilot and gunners, and put a bit of tenax and crazy glue to the fuselage and wing assemblies and a few other bits as well. In short, it’s looking a lot like a plane!
Should be doing a bit more building and painting tonight. Ideally, I’ll be getting some photos up soon.
