I remember the following naval movies, The BedFord Incendent, The Long Ships (VIKINGS! RUN, RUN), The Frogmen, Down to the Sea in Ships (good whaling movie), Hell of High water,. What others did I miss?

The news listed listed that his fame was in westerns, but I too remember him as the roll of salty, cool, determined ship captians.
I remember him more as a cowboy than a sailor. But whatever he did, he was one of the most professional actors out there, and did all roles with integrity. I recall him in “Judgement at Nuremburg”.
Another cultural icon gone. RIP!
