RHPS tracks

Yesterday, I ordered a set of RHPS T48 links. Mr. Sherman said he’d heard they were some pretty spiffy tracks. Anybody used any of them before? What are they like? (Should have asked all this before plunking down the plastic, I know!!)

Thanks

I haven’t heard of them, but since I have been diagnosed with Sherman Fever of late, I am interested about them too

ive seen them in the shop
there plastic on sprues in a plastic bag
but i keep seeing them on models in the top mags

oh yeah
they look to me like the Dragon Sherman tracks

I’ve used them on my Formations M4A1. They are a lot easier to work with than Dragon treads because the little pieces come off the soft plastic sprues better than the brittle sytrene sprues of the in-kit Dragon stuff.

They are ok to build, but they are very time consuming because of the fiddly complicated nature of the track type itself. (Mine are the rubber block treads with the side clamps that hold two lengths together – I forget the classification.) Expect to do huge amounts of sprue removal if your treads are the same as mine.

Avoid my mistake – leave the idler off, and loose, so you can tighten the tracks for that Shermany look!

They look great.

Ouch. I sure hope not. They make a few sets of Shermie tracks, which don’t seem too pricey at $17+, and a set of duckbills, which seem way high to me at $18+. I can’t see paying that for a set of duckbills, myself. The tracks should be here by Sat. We’ll see.

And thanks for the comeback. (I see GM is apparently going to start carrying them, but none of the locals have anything like that. Of course, none of the locals have ANY AM stuff for armor anyway.)

Thanks, Larry. You were posting while I was!

Yep, they sound the same to me. The rubber block tracks are the T-48’s. Lucky me! More sprues of fiddley stuff to put together. Yea!

I’ve been wondering about RPHS tracks too. Let us know what you think.

I’ve used them a couple of times and prefer them to Dragon. They are time consuming to put together but I think they look better then rubber band tracks, and I am no fan of indy tracks. RHPS is really the only indy track that dosen’t drive me nuts.
Enjoy…

Thanks, all. They should be here tomorrow or Saturday. Looking forward to getting my hands on them.

I got them in the mail at lunch today. At first impression, I’m not terribly impressed. Virtually every link has a huge sink mark on the back. Whoopie…filling and sanding here I come!!

I didn’t find that to be such a big deal. I sorted the blocks and put the ones with the cleanest block faces facing out where the treads travel up off the ground – the most visible ones. The worst ones went face-down on the bottom lengths. I had to fill in only one or two. To be honest, if you have them dark, it doesn’t really show.

Thanks for letting us know.[:)]

Thanks, Larry. Most of mine seem pretty deep, but maybe I can do the same thing.

I had the same marks in the ones I got from them. Also, make sure you dry fit the tracks well. You’ll probably ending up taking a few linksoff since, at least the ones I got, were a bit too large. I used them on Tamiya’s M4 Early and the original fit went beyond sag.

Thanks, Garth. It’s really too bad they don’t have the sink problem fixed. They seem to be pretty nice track, otherwise.

Yeah, they aren’t too bad. Despite their shortcomings, the thing I like about them most is how nicely and easily they go together and stay together. THAT alone is enough for me to continue buying them.
