yes, and also to know, Hitler got the swastika from this,
A cross above a monastery door in braunau-am-inn where he went to school as a kid.

i thought the Swastika used in India was slightly different though, dont the “arms” reach counter-clockwise on those? could be mistaken though. i believe it was used in Scandanavian mythology as well.
I don’t know, the images I saw were in the same direction.
Also, it is used by many mythologies, and none refer to something as an ‘superior race’ or anything like that,
all the things I heard so far all have to do with something continious and such…
Even if you type swastika in google, you get images with all different sorts of ‘swastika’s’
From what I recall, some Western European Cultures regarded the " Left- Handed" swastika as a symbol for bad luck; the now infamous “Right-Handed” version ( used on many houses in American cites, BTW ) was considered a good luck symbol.
For example: Next time SWMBO forces you to watch the movie “Gone With the Wind” examine the interior door frame of a house in the scene where a Union Officer (Ward Bond ) is questioning Rhett Butler.
The swastika is a good luck symbol in old Chinese culture, was also used in India, and managed to travel as far as old Norse symbols as well. If any of you have watched the Divinci Code the opening scene where Tom Hanks talks abouts different symbols and their different meanings. Like how the “look” of what is know as a racist group the KKK in Europe was how the crusaders where dressed (or something along those lines)
When the Nazi party took over in Germany, the last thing that was thought was what we think now. In relation to plastic models like my Hobbyboss Wildcat, well now I will have to buy a new decal sheet if Inwant to put the Rising Sun kill markings on it.
Its one of two things, either the symbol is that highly offensive or the plastic model companies are in cahoots with the decal makers to get you to buy more decals…
Hmmmm…someone makes 'em
Well put Richard. And I always suggest when this comes up that the Wiki page on the Swastika is a great and well researched piece on the subject.
What bothers me is that we in the US have a bad tendency to proclaim the values of Democracy, or at least representative government, and then question the value of laws other countries impose upon themselves.
in the case of the European countries that impose restrictions on this, consider that they do it typically under what we call RICO laws here in the US.
I undertand that when you buy a kit on eBay or same that has the symbolcut out of the sheet, it probably was sold to a German, or was in an LHS there, and the removal was an act of the individual. When manu’s don’t include it, pure profit motive to sell in certain markets.
Also sheesh it’s about the easiest thing to either make, hand draw (anyone do that anymore) or buy AM.
I’m with Manny too. YAWN. Wanna model one, figure out how to draw six straight lines. Slightly more difficult than a Hinomaru. Then give me six red stars.
This is the Haley’s Comet of thread topics…[sml…]
I’m amazed at the traction this thread still has, especially when it comes around every few months or so…someone answers the question then it becomes a debate over the harm of the actual swastika symbol…
I’m in Fermis’ camp: buy one AM sheet chock full 'o good swastikas and you should be set for life—and they probably are of better quality than kit ones anyway…
I was thinking, however, if Charles Manson lived in Germany—would he have to have his swastika prison tattoo on his forehead cut out??? [^o)]
Sprue-ce,
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the heads-up!

yes and maybe…
My question is still hangin’ out there…just sayin’…
Might need to ask a Euro Union Barrister about that last one.
All I can say is Maybe
I think it would be left alone, but he would recieve a good beating. To the point where he would be buried or he would have to flee.
Brad Pitt would have scalped him.
I have visions of a back-alley deal going down in Saltzburg, a well-dressed older gentleman with a Bavarian accent, pulls an envelope full of swastika decals in various scales out of an attaché case, trades them to a scruffy-looking modeler for a bag of small unmarked bills, then disappears into the night, watching around every corner for Interpol…
If that’s the case, Manny’s statement about “hanging out there” might be the actual result.
Obviously a serious crime; no Euro taxes paid.
Lol, but still,
my question wasn’t why it is removed, but if in the US they were removed from the revell kits to.
With regards, Ninetalis.
No, the decals are included in the kits that I’ve seen recently, but I do seem to recall seeing a few boxes that had a black diamond on the tail rather than a swastika. I suppose that is done with the expectation that the same artwork will be sent overseas.
