I’ve noticed some kits out there recently by Revell in a flying diorama where magnets are used to make the plane hover over the base. Has anyone built a kit and does it work o.k.? What are all the planes Revell are looking to make for this series?
I have seen the Fokker DR1 in kit form.
But at $49 and 1/72 scale it was out of my price range. I heard there was a Spitfire too but haven’t seen that one.
The use of magnents is intriging. . .yet the words “fine thread” used to achieve the look of flight has me wondering exactly how the model is kept up.
Don
The magnets keep the model in the air, but it is stabilised with fine wires.
Fine wires?!?! Well heck, you might as well just hang it!
Coincidently, I just ran across one of these kits (The Fokker DR1) in a local shop yesterday, going for 6,500 yen (about $60 USD). At that price, scale, and useless gimmick, I had no problem putting it right back on the shelf! [xx(]
