Revell's 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302

So, if I am recalling correctly, I don’t think I’ve actually built a model of a car since 1991. So this should be interesting. Wanted to try something different so I decided on Revell’s 1969 Ford Mustang. So far I have some of the engine done and I am testing out a custom color that isn’t normal for the Boss 302. Still deciding if I am going to do the wood decals for the interior or a dark aluminum color instead. here are the pic’s of the engine and what the color may look like.

Leaning more towards the darker version of the burgundy. I have another post open with help on how to spray the paint from the can, so don’t mind the runs and bubbles for now.

I built this kit years ago, one of the few car kits that I’ve built that turned out pretty good I guess. Actually I think I had problems getting the hood down. But anyway, good luck with your build.

I’m looking forward to seeing your progress on this. That color will look killer.

I really enjoyed this kit. I ended up with two of them (got one as a present). Built one as the Boss 302 and since the kit came with most of the parts for a big block Mach 1, I built the second one as a Mach 1. Just needed to order the Mach 1 decals separately. Both turned out pretty well. Your color choice is very cool. It will turn out great. Good luck with your build!

That color is going to look so nice when laid down. Looks like you got some bubbles on the spoon. The paint from those cans comes out in high psi 40psi and up. Might have to try quicker passes from a bit further away, and build up the level of color and depth you need. Give it a good amount of time between coats to off gas also. Good luck! Its a great color out of the can.

Following along. I’ve got the Monogram 70 Boss 302 in the stash.

So wanted to share some more work done on the Mustang. Since the application of the primer went on so well, I just had to mess with it and so it scratched a little. That’s what I get for doing that! So here some pics of the engine mounted to the frame, some of the body and the interior. Since I am going for a custom exterior paint, I decided on leaving it the black interior with steel colored section where the wood grain is locate. Trying to decide if I am goin to go with steel in place of the chrome trim on the exterior or go with chrome.

The color to be used, decanted.

Trying to decide if I will stick with keeping this as a Boss 302, or using the parts for the Mach 1.

Like what you have going on so far. That exterior color looks nice. Over the black primer it will look dark and moody.

Looking great so far. Can’t go wrong with either the Boss or Mach 1. The latter may require some aftermarket decals (if you choose that route with a custom exterior) and if I remember correctly, I borrowed a hood scoop from a Torino GT for my Mach 1.
