Ok i built this for the revell monogram GB 1 of 2 kits I decided to go waaaaaaaaay out side the box and sand off all the panel lines and not replace them in my opinion it looks much better i also know that this SR-71 did not carry a drone but i put it on any way i also painted the tires white ive seen pictures but i didnt know if this bird had them. So here she is.
Well its no 1/32 P 38 but I still like it. Its different for sure. Never seen the white tires before either what was the reason for those?
Pretty good looking Blackbird. The main gear tires are actually silver while the nose gear tires are standard black. The mains had aluminum impregnated in the rubber during manufacture to help them withstand the heat generated during high speed flight. The nose tires didn’t need this protection because the nose gear bay was air conditioned for some avionics tucked in there. I noticed that you removed the pitot tubes from the D-21 and that is correct for the ones carried on the M-21. Looking forward to seeing your Gato sub.
