Gentlemen: Need your input I got the first coat of white paint on my JU52 should I put on a second coat to give it the look of a factory paint job or leave it as is to give it a white washed look? I’m giving it the white with black stripes winter camo. ON BENCH REVELLE 1/48 JU52 ACESES5
White with black stripes? Where did you find information for this scheme?
Bronto: I know this is more than likely not a actuall paint scheme used by Germany where I got this idea from, was the movie Where Eagels Dare with Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. At the end of movie they escape back to England in a captured 52 that was painted white with black stripes. The movie was set in Germany in winter time, but I liked the paint job on this one. I did find some pictures of 52’s painted all white but no black stripes. If you want to see some white ones use your home page search box type in GERMAN AIR FORCE PICTURES this is where I found them. I have seen white-washed ones, just they are white over the standard 70/71 camouflage. If it came from a movie there’s not telling what kind of imagination was used to come up with the scheme.
Note the black streaks down on the wing outboard of the BMW radial
engines from the lubricating oil going out with the exhaust gases.
My opinion, the stripes are dark green, definitely not black! And considering white with green stripes is an actual scheme, I’d go with that.
EDIT: Look at this link! I think this will really help ya…
Thanks for all your help and input with this project this is the reason I come back to FineScale time after time. aceses5
Dunkelgrun to be precise. That is the color I would use. Or maybe shwartzgrun .“SHWARTZ!” had to get the seasonal reference in there!
Looks green to me
Looks green to me also. See http://airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.org/archive/atf-6th-anniversary-raptorcat-s-junkers-ju.52-3m__o_t__t_32987.html
Sounds like a fun scheme to try: regardless of the underlying color (sorry, I can’t help you there) are you going for a hard edge, or a softer blend with the white?
why does that interior photo make me think “Bauhaus Bus”?
I was thinking of building a JU52 also. Are you are building the Revell of Germany model? I was wondering what the differences were between the Revell of Germany model and the Revell. Sorry I can’t aswer your question about paint. I’m just getting back to modeling after 30 yrs.
On the bench Monogram B17G
Generally Revell Monogram trades molds to Revell of Germany. RoG has been repopping recently the original Revell 1/32 fighters, such as the Spitfire Mk I, the Seafire Mk1, the Hurricane Mk 1, and the Bf 109G which is done as an F model. They have also done the 1/48 B-17F. I haven’t kept up with all the repopping, and what is original molding.
tedtool: I have the ROG kit it’s been a battle to get it together the fusaloge parts are very thin and flimsey the amount of flash was"nt bad at all to my surprise. Parts fit was an issue but some sanding and cutting fixed that, getting the wings on was a job in it’s self ,one hint if any of you do this kit leave the wing flaps till last. The there is not munch there to hold them on they will break off very easy, but overall this was a typical Revelle kit. One more thing if you build the transport version DO NOT cut out the 2 panels in the bottom fuseloge panel I made this mistake and had to fill it in with some white sheet plastic. ACESES5
