Revell / Zvesda 1/350 Dieter von Roeder Class Destroyer Question

Greetings all!

I was recently given the 1/350 RoG kit of the “1936 Model” German destroyer, and, knowing that it is not up to Dragon’s standards of excellence, want to do the necessary work to upgrade the detail. Overall shapes seem to be accurate, but the detail is questionable at best. Therefore, I have my work cut out for me.

Does anyone know of any good references about this class? For example, there are no bilge keels on the kit at all. Did this class ship them? I have visited many different websites, looked through many books on then ships of the Kriegsmarine to no avail. I would sincerely appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Bill Morrison

Bill,

I just pulled up a nice detail drawing of the 1936 class destroyer ‘Dieter von Roder’ using Google images. The drawing is showing bilge keels, rigging and other features.

Marcus,

Were you referring to this picture?

Bill,

Here are a couple of links I’m sure you’ve already seen. They provide some technical information if you click on the links.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the assist! Every drawing or photo that I found was a waterline portrayal. I’ve printed this drawing and have posted it at my work bench. I will raise this to at least Dragon standards come 7734 or high water!

Bill

Yes, that was one of them.
