I picked up a Revell 1/48 scale Warthog at Hobby Lobby. I’m not really thrilled with either of the paint/decal options in the kit. I am traditionally a car builder and am venturing onto the other side. Friends tell me that I may never go back. Who makes good decals for 1/48th scale Warthogs???
rburnside,
depends on what A-10 you want. If your looking for the gray or current paint, two bobs makes great quality decals. http://www.twobobs.net/
If your looking for the old-school green and gray (euro schem) you may want to try Super Scale or CAM…both available at greatmodels webstore. http://greatmodels.com/
There are a couple of very knowledgable A-10 fans that frequent this site you’ll probably get more insightful responses soon. I’m not a model car guy, but as model car builders are probably the best painters in the hobby.
Good luck, bwog
I have the twobobs set for the Gulf War A-10 with the female pilot that was hit & lost all hydraulics. She got home ok though, as the A-10 has a fall-back manual control system - fortunately! The decal sheet is crisp & very nice. I can recommend it.
Yeah, the Twobob decals are nice. In addition, they have 48-054 Bagram planes from the Cajuns with a warthog face on them and 48-065 which features a grey jet with a black lightning bolt on it and 48-003 which has a bird from Nellis and one from the MD ANG. Also, there is an old OOP set for two pre-Desert Storm experimental camo schemes called Peanut and Flipper. Once is a tan/brown and the other is gray. Keep in mind that most of these require you to add the LASTE blisters to the plane and possibly the GPS dome to the spine.
I found this article that has some nice explainations on modernizing the Revell A-10.
