Revell USS Enterprise TOS

Hi, here are some photos of my finished starship.

Nice job, and clean if I might add. I wasn’t aware Revell made this.

I’ve built my share of the ST Ertl kits and actually burned out on the Trek genre, especially when the “Bishops of Canon” dissect every little thing that violates ST Canon. Your’s caught my eye though, being a nice clean display compared to some that are just overly “weathered” (weather in space??) with oil and grease-like streaking along every panel and engine nacelles.

Thank you so much  it’s my first model that I ever used decals on and I was blown away with how it transformed from plastic model to miniature starship.

Very nice clean build of the Enterprise. Like the others, I wasn’t aware that Revell made this kit.

Thanks  Revell does this and Voyager as far as I know.

Wow, this takes me back to childhood and my failed attempt at an AMT Enterprise. How did this Revell kit go together for you? I’m seriously considering an Enterprise for my next build.

It went together really well I think. I’ve done plenty of Warhammer models but this was my first “real” scale model really. I had done a few when I was a kid but those were all unpainted and had about a litre of glue per model. The only thing I thought was difficult was the paint mixing of the base color, I slavishly followed the instructions and have since learned that you sometimes have to ignore or modify them a bit. I bought the Revell colors but I didn’t like the feel of them so I successively exchanged more and more of them with Vallejo apart from the base color of the hull.

Did you mask the windows? Or paint them after painting the ship?

I painted the hull before I added the windows, they are clear plastic painted white. A few are decals.

Is this the Revell Germany version? I have this and the Klingon as well.

Beautiful job, sir. I have one as well as the D7 in my build stash.

Yes, it is the Revell Germany version.

Welcome to the forums Dino1963! Looking forward to seeing your builds.

I had no idea Revell had different versions?

Thank you. My stuff is not worthy. :slightly_smiling_face:

Revell only has one “version” of Enterprise and the D7.

Beautiful. Excellent work for sure. I’ve just started building this kit. A couple questions.

How did you deal with (painting that is) the Bussard collectors? It looks like you have them all orange-red.

Did you used a gloss paint or a gloss coat at the end?

I did transparent paint on the inside, I also realised there were parts on the inside that woulkd only be visible if lit internally. I think you can get away with just painting the “bulb” if your not doing lighting :stuck_out_tongue:

I see. I’ve been struggling with how to paint those ribs on the inner dome. I may just do as you did and paint the inside of that dome and maybe leave the front dome clear.

Did you use a gloss paint for the hull or do a gloss coat after painting?
