I really had no idea of the shuttles true scale …
I started working on the wing sec. part #22 . I have figured that only this lower sec. i can use for my BSG model .
The other parts of the shuttle i will use ? in the future , or if ? some one wants to trade ? some sci/fi… real world parts ?
any way,
the wing . #22 I can use by removing the center sec. 11"long by 2 13/16"width.
to bring the outer halfs together . and now the rear landing gear just forward will need to be notched for the air / reverse scoops.
the top surface of the wings part#'s 20 and 21 i will not use. to thick for my project.
I’ll use Plastic sheets.
if thier is any one with the part # 22 laying around . send me a line . I hope to have a photo’s up some time soon. other projects to.

Maybe all the Shuttle kits are getting popular enough again so that they will be reissued. hope so.

I purchased the 1/144 shuttle and launch complex when it first came out. I had it for a while, then the Challenger incident occured. Then, I knew what to do with my kit. The kit had been built for many years and put in storage, acutally transported half way across the country before finally being displayed. As of 2004, I finished a special spot in one of my display cases, a memorial of sorts, that houses the kit depicting Challenger just before launch. Around it are photos of the crew, all the patches up to and including Challenger launch, and several other pictures of memoribilia. One of my favorite models.
I would like to see a photo of that, schulerwb24! I have a 1/72 with boosters I may do as the Columbia. I got the resin Tail fin camera and all.
I’d love to see the 747/Enterprise Shuttle reissued. Have an original kit I started long, long ago. But never got around to finishing it. Someday…
I’d like somebody to issue a 1/72 scale 747, here in the US. I would love to make a combo of the shuttle on that, as I saw done at a model show here a couple years back.
