As someone fairly new on this site I have only come across this thread today so I hope you won’t mind if I join in at this late stage.
I like the Revell/Monogram models which must have been ground breakers in their day (that was my long lay-off period) What’s immediately obvious here is that despite some of these kit’s showing their age it’s proof positive that they can be turned into something special - there are some cracking looking models in these pages.
I’ve done a couple of the Revell/Monogram kits now - the Ju 52 below and a B-26 Marauder in NMF . There’s also the Ju88, Catalina and Su25 on the ‘pending’ shelf[;)]
I don’t have any pics of the B-26 and only these few of the '52 the details of which I found in the ‘Luftwaffe Colours’ book Transporter Two.
The aircraft, still in it’s Russian Front markings was flown to the Mediterranean and fitted with floats to serve with LT Staffel (See). The rudder had been repainted and a new tactical code applied.
It’s extremely weathered appearance appealed greatly and I spent many happy hours in 2008-9 trying to create the effect … it’s all Tamiya paint except the primer and an Alclad layer under the camouflage. The white wash, applied over hair laquer, was supposed to wear more to show the camo beneath but the Tamiya dried off too much and proved too resilient.
It’s a big model and the only one built so far that does not have a low key scenic base - maybe one day if the mood takes.
The floats are MDC (extensively modified), it has an Aires cockpit and all the doors are modified/scratch built to show the (four bay cargo door) version capable of being fitted with floats.

These are not particularly good pics - it does look rather grubby - but it’s been well received when displayed. It was a lovely model to build - the fits are superb particularly the joins where the corrugations meet. The only awkward bit was the rather thin hinges for holding the flaps/ailerons. These were reinforced with wire.
I need to take some pics of past models - I’ll try to get some better overall shots when I do
