Revell Germany 1/32 Piper Cub; Anybody know 'bout it?

Hey all, sorry I was of the forum for so long. I had an operation to permanently remove both sides of my right toenail and the tissue that grows them. off my feet for a week, no modeling, no forum. Sigh… :frowning:

Anyway, I am now cured! The stitches are out and I can return to my workbench haunt!
I came across a RG 1/32 Piper Cub at the hobby shop. Anbody now if it’s worth it?

Aslong as they are asking retail it should please you. It is a new mold PA-18-135 type Super Cub. Go for it if you like Cubs. I haven’t seen it but the remarks I have heard are plsotive. Don’t really know why I don’t have one, maybe it’s the 1,000’s in front I already have.

I’ve had one in the stash for about five months now, and it’s a very fine piece of work. Think in terms of the Tamiya 1/48 Storch, without the figures, accessories and gimmicks, for half the price. The decal sheet is particularly impressive. The UK RRP is £14.99 (say USD29.00) - slightly cheaper in Germany - and it’s worth every penny and then some. I understand that GreatModels have it for USD30.80, which is a more-than-fair price.

Wow, better than some of their other kits!..

Thanks for the help, guys.

Not really. About the same level as most of thier own-brand new-mould kits (as opposed to re-pops of other people’s stuff, the quality of which can. indeed, be variable) for the last few years. Revell Germany are producing some very good stuff at the moment.

Cheers,

Chris.

I was refrencing their Mig-15bis. Isn’t that an old frog mold?

An alternative is the Bronco Models L4 Grasshopper… military version of a Piper. Builds up into a nice looking model. A little extra detailing is needed and a couple of spot that need some care but overall nice kit. I did this ine for my cousin in civil markings.

[bow][#toast]Holy crap! Nice![bow][bow]

thanks for the picks.

I haven’t heard of Bronco before. Are they defunct or something?

No, it’s the old Monogram kit, in all its raised panel line glory. Not very nice, not very accurate. The Tamiya kit may be almost half as expesnive again, but in this case, it’s worth every penny.

And Bronco are a new-ish outfit, specializing in less-well-known Allied WW2 armour in 1/35:

I have their 1/35 Humber scout car in the stash:

and it’s a very nice kit indeed, and good value for money.
