Revell Gemini detail kit help please

Hello,

When I was young, maybe 5 or 6 (I was born in 1962), I had a model of the Gemini capsule (Revell … 1/24 … I am pretty sure).

A few years back I bought one (re-issued version) … picked it up and tucked it away.

At the time, I saw that at one time a “detail kit” was available at one time. It contained photo etched parts as well as plastic parts (some for added detail, some to correct mistakes in the original model).

Anyway, when I bought the model, the detail kit was already not available ( the instructions online say LVM Studios and dated 2012)

Does anyone know if these kits (even if through two suppliers …one for the photo parts and one for the plastic parts) … or maybe plans for these parts (I found YouTube videos of people making their own photo parts and maybe I could get someone to 3d print the plastic ones) ?

Thanks!

Have you tried Realspace Models? He makes a resin 1/24 conversion kit to make the Gemini capsule more accurate.

Thanks … probably what I will order. I “think” the LVM kit had these parts and also photo etched parts.

For all I know, LVM got the plastic parts from here and just packaged them with their own photo parts.

Thanks!

I believe they were separate. They also included a kit for the interior, which is not included in the Realspace parts.

Got it! I just did a search and found the complete instructions from LVM Studios (I had only seen a few pages up till now).

It is indeed labeled “Gemini Interior Detail Kit” … lots and lots of photo etched parts … everything from details on the door, ejection seat and control panels.

I will order the Real Space kit this weekend … that will take care of the exterior.

Reading the instructions, they also recommend a decal set from Space Model System … I will get that on order (found them on the web).

I still need to locate either a kit or the file (to print and etch) an interior kit.

Does anyone know if this company still exists (even under another name) or if there is a way of contacting the owner to see if he can still make them or is willing to sell the file?

Thanks so much !!!

LVM, sadly, is kaput. Do a search for the kit on eBay and save it. They come up very rarely but they do come up. Maybe 2-3 times per year. That’s how I got mine. And be prepared to pay the price. Or wait maybe another 6 months. Good luck!

FOUND ONE! Found a person in Canada who had one. A search on ebay said the last one sold for $114 plus shipping! I got this one for $75 USD … I hurt but what can you do.

I am planning to get buy the Seaview sub … I will make sure to get all the little extras at the same time … while they are still in production and can be had at a “reasonable” price.

Thanks!!!
