I’ve just started building this kit for a bit of light relief, a change from building armour!
The pre-painted bodywork seemed like a good idea, but unfortunately there are a lot of moulding marks that spoil it. I want to strip the paint off, sort out the moulding defects and then paint it properly. This is proving to be a problem.
In the past I have stripped paint using brake fluid, but it won’t touch the paint on this kit. I have looked for Castrol Super Clean, as recommended on the “painting and airbrushing” forum, but I cannot find it in the UK.
Does anyone know the UK name for Super Clean, or a UK product that will do the job?
I have left a piece of the painted sprue in brake fluid for 5 days now, and the paint hasn’t even softened!
I have also tried Mr. Muscle oven cleaner (24 hours) to no avail.
I have just ordered some “modelstrip” paint stripper. See what that does.
just a suggestion, if you can’t strip it, why not sand it smoothly using a finishing sand paper?
then prime it then start painting it tamiya italian red.
Sorry! Didn’t mean to put you on the wrong track. I’ll have a look around there again and see if anyone came up with a better option. That was just one I remembered off the top of my head.
Clockwork - this is what I could find. Obviously please test whatever first on a sprue, as you have with the brake fluid.
Okay, the one allready mentioned is brake fluid. Then there is (I see you mention it in your original post) the Super Clean. Only thing I can tell you more, is that they talked about a purple bottle. Hopefully this can help you finding it!
Last thing another guy advised was something called Scale Coat Paint remover #56. He talked about 30 mins for paint removal! [:0] Don’t know whether that is on “normal” paint or this stuff Revell put on.
As Gary suggested - a lot of guys did just that. Tape together the body panels and sand down carefully.

Here is another suggestion
May not be as quick as brake fluid but try to lay the parts in a pool of bleach.
Not the one girls (and some guys I guess…) use to hilight there hair but the one to clean floors. dont delute it with water just straight from the bottle.
It really depends on which color has been used and how thick the lair is. acrylics are very difficult to remove with method (Sometimes impossible) but enamels will start to loosen after 24-48 houres. I tried to strip a model I painted with a brush and lots of paint (When I was younger ) and the paint was removed after sitting for about a month…
So it really depends. the good thing it dosent hurts the plastic at all!
I remove the paint by scrubbing with an old tooth brush.
When done give it a good wash under running water then rinse it. dont try to smell it it stinks!
I wonder whats the quality of this kit…
