Revell Eurofighter Typhoon 1/72 (2 seater) - Paints Query

Hello all,
Has anyone built the Revell 1/72 Eurofighter Typhoon (2 seater) ?
I’ve given up on the Revell colour mixing selections, again !!
Would be really greatful if anyone can give me a single tinlet/bottle alternative for the codes Revell give in the kit.
A, D, E. I, M,P and Q. are the ones I need to know. Best Wishes to all.
Mick C.

What are the numbers associated with the letters on the sheet. I don’t have the kit but still may be able to assist. Cheers Jim

Hello Jim,
Thank you for the interest in my request.
I’m not sure if this is helpful or not, but these are the mixes given in the instructions, I’ve tried to say where they are used as best I can. The aim here is to make it look right, not be a perfect copy, so any suggestions are more than welcome. Revell are hardly helping their case, as I’m not too keen on this at all. OK being European they might not have heard of FS numbers, but even the Russians copied BS colours. [censored]
All Revell paint numbers.
A : 67% (57)matt grey + 33% (55)matt light green - Fuselage & Wings
D : 67% (76)matt light grey + 33% (5)matt white - Tailpipe
E : 75% (57)matt grey + 25% (5)matt white - Cockpit sides & back
I : 75% (91)metallic steel + 25% (9)matt anthracite grey - Afterburner
M : 50% (89)matt beige + 50% (5)matt white - Straps on the ejector seat back ?
P : 10% (76)matt light grey + 90% (5)matt white - Air Intake Ducting - AMRAAM body
Q : 33% (75)matt stone grey + 67% (5)matt white - Radome
Thanks again,
Mick C.

Mick,

do you use humbrol enamels? If you do, I’ll be able to work out what you need.

Hello again,
Yes Jim I have a good selection of Humbrol paints.
Most grateful for your assistance. Learning all the time here re: research and picking up tips on what other colours people use. I’m sure as I get somewhat better I’ll try and actually mix some paints. My one and only attempt has left me with a partly completed 1/32 Revell Hawker Hunter F.Mk.6 with a singularly unique cockpit colour. [:I] Tremendous to see the Fleet Air Arm logo too, I want a Buccaneer, I want a Buccaneer LOL.
Anyways, thanks for your time Jim, don’t interrupt your own modelling too much though.

Best Wishes
Mick

Hello again, been busy mixing paint to colour match your request…so here we go ( those of you who may read this please correct me if you think I may be wrong)…Humbrol colours to use or it’s closest possible match are listed below.

A - 87 Matt Sea Grey B - 85 Coal Black C - 86 Matt Light Olive D - 28 Camo Grey

E - 165 Medium Sea Grey F - 56 Aluminium G - 27003 Polished Steel H - 34 White

I - 27004 Gunmetal J - 60 Scarlet K - 15 Midnight Blue (revell 350 best choice)

L - 11 Silver M - 148 Randome Tan N - 79 Blue Grey O - 25 Blue P - 196 Light Grey

Q - 129 US Gull Grey

I added in the other colours not listed from Revell’s web site, which has a PDF Doc on the kit instructions. So now you’ll have to spend some folding stuff to get the colours you need. Cheers Jim

Hi yet again Jim,
Can’t express how grateful I am for your efforts. Now I can slip that nice box out of the cupboard and get my fingers into all the lil gems inside [:)] It has been so frustrating to know the folding stuff has been spent and there it sits moping in the cupboard. For those of you who have been following this thread, I’m hardly skilled enought to work up the Typhoon to superb standards, but my thinking is I’d like it to look right. Short of going loopy and painting it in various shades of pink or something daft. I’d rather not start something till I can see it through. Jim has been a stirling help here, now I’m in a position to get stuck in as they say. From looking at the list I’m pretty sure I’ve already got most if not all of the Humbrol paints needed. Happy day here [:)] I know Jim has left an open invitation for others who are skilled and knowledgeable to analyse his efforts and comment etc. But for me the given list is more than ok. Thanks very much Jim [bow]
Now, where’s that box !!
Best Wishes to all
Mick C.
