Hey guys, I’m an aircraft guy with a car question! I recently picked up a Revell BMW 320i kit. After working on the undercarriage, wheels etc., I took a closer look at the body… Mine looks sort of like an elephant sat on the frint edge of the roofline!! The A-pillars are bulged out a little & the roofline has a definite droop. I tried soaking it down in hot water, popping the glass in, pushing it into the shape it should be and then dunking it in hot water. ( I feel kinda like a blacksmith!) That helped a little with the bulging A-pillars, but not so much with the roofline. I’m thinking much-hotter water out of a kettle rather than the faucet could either do the trick… or melt the friggin’ thing! Any suggestions
Which kit and scale?
ahhhhh - I knew I should have grabbed the details off the box!! If I remember correctly it’s 1/43 scale, likely an off the shelf mass-market deal. It’s part of Revell’s “Tuners” series, with optional parts for the flared fenders / spoilers / rally stripes. Is that any help? (Hey, I warned you I’m an airplane guy!!)

But yes you can try with warm or hot water, or also with a hair dryer…
I hadn’t heard of it either, just stumbled on it at one of those stock liquidator warehouses. oops - waaaay off on the scale, apparently it’s a 1/25 kit. I may give it a shot with a hair dryer, I should be able to better monitor how soft the plastic is getting that way. Thanks Brizio!

At least it wasn’t like my MPC Charger 500 that I got a while back! lol! I kid you not—this is the condition it came in! Seems someone left it on a windowsill or near the heater too long! (The eBay seller replaced it for nothing!)

In this case, I just built up a new one–my fear is that you may THINK that you’ve straightened and corrected it, but when you get to the mating of the body/tub, you might have unacceptable issues with the fit? ALl that work for NOTHIN’!
If I were you, I’d go with either purchasing a new same kit, or try writing to the company for a replacement body–put the kit build on hold til you get a reply.
Ouch - the look on your face on opening the box must have been priceless! I hadn’t thought of this situation, I did buy it at a “saurplus stock” store - the boxes may have been in someone’s store window or a hot earehouse foe who knows how long.
I’ve spent a little time dryfitting the body to the frame plate and everything down below seems fine, so I think if I get the roofline & pillers settled down I’m good to go. Your picture is a good reminder to watch how long I keep that hairdryer on the model too!

That is almost impossible to fix it! Or if you try you spend tooooooo much time probably for nothing.
I hope you already had contacted the seller on ebay.
You can try to contact als oRevell and ask them a body.
Hey Brizio - luckily my little BMW is not damaged anywhere near as bad as that pic above, mine should be salvageable with a little heat.
Hmmm, that one could just be built up as-is… I’ve heard that Dodge products can occasionally just melt like that! [:D]
